WIZARD WORLD CHICAGO: MARVEL COMICS' SPIDER-MAN PANEL

ROSEMONT, Ill. -- "The Other," the nine-issue Spider-Man event, is now "The Other: Evolve or Die."

Marvel editor-in-chief Joe Quesada and Spider-Man editor Axel Alonso addressed the event during a panel at Wizard World Chicago on Sunday. The slide show exhibited the completed trade dress for the issues.

Morlun, a villain created in writer J. Michael Straczynski's first Amazing Spider-Man arc, returns in "The Other."

"We knew that Morlun was destined to comeback. Spidey didn't beat him last time. He escaped." Quesada said, "If you thought the last battle was brutal, this one is worse."

The Spider-writers -- Stracyznski, Friendly Neighborhood's Peter David and Marvel Knights' Reginald Hudlin -- will each write three consecutive issues of the arc, crossing into each others' titles.

"Each writer gets to flesh out each act rather than bounce it back and forth like ping-pong balls," Alonso said.

Alonso emphasized the important of the arc. "There are some meaningful changes to the Spider-Man mythology and to the Spider-Man character," he said.
