TRACI BINGHAM MODELS BLACKBEARD LEGACY

Continuing its line of celebrity cover models, Blue Water Productions announced on Friday that actress/model Traci Bingham has signed with the creative studios to model for covers of the upcoming title, The Blackbeard Legacy, which launches in February.

Bingham joins Cindy Margolis, who models for the studio's The Tenth Muse.

"I was, and still am, thrilled and honored to be a part of the comic world for all to see! And the drawings are the perfect art," said Bingham. "I have always been truly amazed by comic books. I grew up reading and collecting comic books since I was young. My four older brothers got me hooked on them, but I really love the original Wonder Woman and Batman & Robin comics."

The Blackbeard Legacy follows the story of a young pirate named Hannah, whom also happens to be the daughter of the feared Blackbeard. The title is by writers Darren G. Davis and Terrance Griep and artist Mik Jimenez.

"The Blackbeard Legacy is one of those rare lightening-in-a-bottle ideas that makes you wonder, 'Why didn't I think of that?'," Jimenez said. "It has all the elements for a great comic; you have the babes, the sword fights, high adventure on the open sea, and the iconic figure of Blackbeard."

Bingham rose to celebrity fame in the mid-1990s as Jordan Tate on Baywatch and more recently returned to center stage, appearing in the VH1 series, The Surreal Life 2. Her other credits include The Young & The Restless, Beverly Hills, 90210, Strip Mall and The Nutty Professor.

"As far as The Blackbeard Legacy, we hope to move it to an actual television series because it is too hot not to," Bingham said.

SPAWN THE ANIMATION UPDATE

Terry Fitzgerald of Todd McFarlane Productions said the upcoming Spawn The Animation will not be for children under 13.

"There will not be a lot of nudity or gratuitous sex," Fitzgerald said. "But will it be violent? Yes. Will you see a lot of blood? Yes. Will there be bad language? Yes."

The movie, which is being developed as a back-door television pilot, will be released on DVD in the first quarter of next year.

The story picks up seven years after the HBO series left off.

"This is Spawn with an attitude," Fitzgerald said. "He's been sleeping for seven years, and something's woke him up -- and he's pissed."

Viewers will meet Spawn through Marie, a new character voiced by Cree Summer.

Fitzgerald described Marie as a "haunted" character.

"In the beginning, you don't know if you like her, but by the end of the movie, you've gone a journey with her," Fitzgerald said. "She's a victim, an oracle who's also unfortunately a junkie and who's under control of the villain."

Summer, 36, is a veteran in the animation voice business. Her genre credits include She-Hulk in The Incredible Hulk, Max in Batman Beyond, Luminara Unduli in Star Wars: Clones Wars and Magma in the X-Men: Legends video game.

VAMPIRELLA REVELATIONS

Harris Comics has provided The Continuum with a look at nine pages of Mike Lilly's pencils from Vampirella Revelations #1, which hits stands on Nov. 9.

The book is written by Mike Carey and features covers by Jose Gonzalez and Mark Texeira.

"The era of the so-called 'bad girl' is over. Done. Dead," Harris Comics editorial director Bon Alimagno said. "Sure, she'll still be easy on the eyes. But now when you think Vampirella, think horror, think epic fantasy, think of stories that'll make you laugh and cry and shiver all at once. Long-time fans will remember that's the way Vampirella was. Now that's the way she will be again.

"Yet, even if this is your first Vampirella comic you won't be lost, really you're getting in on the ground floor! Whether you've been a Vampi fan for five years or 35 years, this book's for you."

Here's how Harris describes the book:

"Coming out of the events of September's Vampirella Revelations #0, Vampi's confused and desperate for answers. She turns to a mystic to unravel the tangled threads of her origin. He takes her on a journey to hell and back, deep down into the murky waters of her past -- her real past. What she finds brings her face to face with her mother, her home, and the very moment of her birth."

Each cover will also be available as a Limited Virgin Edition with no logo or text obscuring the art.
