NEW SHADOWHAWK ARTIST

Ted Wing will be replacing Carlos Rodriguez as regular artist on Jim Valentino's ShadowHawk, beginning with #7.

Wing will pencil, ink and color the Image Comics title.

"We wanted to bring a sharper edge to the book, something a little more modern, a little more dangerous," Valentino said. "Ted's work first came to our attention on the Shadowline message board at www.imagecomics.com and we thought his style was perfect for where editor Kris Simon, series writer Scott Wherle and I wanted the series to go."

Valentino said that with ShadowHawk #7, the story starts to take a turn.

"Not necessarily darker but we are going to make Eddie grow up and realize that the world is not black-and-white and being a super-hero in the 21st Century is not all fun and games," Valention said.

Wing described his style as "experimental," using water based oils, ink, pencils, Photoshop painter.

"I think that Shadowline wants a new look without eclipsing the whole idea of what a comic is," Wing said.

Said editor Simon: "We couldn't be happier with what we've seen so far. Everything form Ted's first piece, the cover for issue #8, to the pages he's turning in daily."

ShadowHawk #7 goes on sale on Nov. 23.

BRIEFLY

* Above is a first look at the covers to House of M #8 (Chris Bachalo variant), Exiles #71, Ultimate Spider-Man #84, Wolverine #34. Cable/Deadpool #21, Mutopia X #4, Essential Spider-Man #7, Ultimate X-Men #64 and Vision: Yesterday and Tomorrow from Marvel Comics. Click on the thumbnails for larger images.

* Joey Cavalieri, editor of DCU projects including Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight, Plastic Man, and the upcoming Warlord, has been promoted to Senior Editor. Cavalieri is also the writer of The Flast #127-130.

* DC Comics' Justice #1, the debut issue of the new maxiseries by Alex Ross, Jim Krueger and Doug Braithwaite, has sold out at DC Comics. The issue arrived in stores on August 3 and was Diamond's best seller for the month.

"This is the best reaction I've had to any work of mine in the last 10 years," Ross said. "I'd like to think I'm giving people what they want from me, and hopefully the sales show that. The first issue is really just a way to start us getting into much more cliffhanger-like moments of this war we're setting."

DC Comics has no plan at this time to go back to press on this issue.

* Top Cow is reporting that Necromancer #1 and Freshmen #2 have both sold out. Top Cow is already into a second printing on Freshmen #1, and will continue to monitor the marketplace and fan reaction to determine if there will be additional printings on Necromancer #1 and Freshmen #2.

* Coming Wednesday: Marvel solicitations -- and much more!!!
