NEW SCARY GODMOTHER SPECIAL

Scary Godmother 2: The Revenge of Jimmy, the second animated special based on Jill Thompson's characters, will debut on Cartoon Network on Friday, Oct. 7 at 7:30 p.m.

Like the first special, Scary Godmother's Halloween Spooktacular, the special is produced by Canada's Mainframe Entertainment.

"The first Scary Godmother special was one of Cartoon Network's highest-rated specials last holiday season, and we're looking forward to this new special marking Scary Godmother as a Halloween tradition," said Rick Mischel, CEO of Mainframe.

Thompson has been involved in both specials, serving as art director.

Here's how the new special is described:

"Scary Godmother and her creepy pals have seen their last Halloween if the monster-phobic Jimmy has anything to say about it. Can Hannah save Halloween before Jimmy erases it from the calendar forever?"

Other air dates and times for the one-hour special include Friday Oct. 7 at 9 p.m.; Monday, Oct. 10 at 11 a.m. and 7:30 p.m.; Tuesday, Oct. 18 at 8:30 p.m.; Sunday, Oct. 30 at noon.; and Monday, Oct. 31 at noon, 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Cartoon Network will also be airing the original Scary Godmother special in October. Air dates and times include Monday, Oct. 10 at 7 a.m. and 11 a.m.; Tuesday, Oct. 18 at 7:30 p.m.; Thursday, Oct. 20 at 8:30 p.m.; Saturday, Oct. 29 at 1 p.m.; and Monday, Oct. 31 at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m.

The Blade television series for Spike TV is on course, executive producer David Goyer told The Continuum.

Goyer wrote all three Blade films and directed Blade: Trinity. He and Geoff Johns are writing the television pilot.

Goyer, pictured above with Jessica Biel on the set of Blade: Trinity, also wrote Batman Begins with director Christopher Nolan and has been attached to write and direct a Flash film for Warner Bros.

SECOND PRINTING FOR JUSTICE #1

After selling out its initial print run at DC Comics, Justice #1 is going back to press for a new printing, scheduled to arrive in stores in Oct. 19.

Justice #1 Second Printing reprints the first issue, written by Alex Ross and Jim Krueger, with art by Doug Braithwaite and Ross. The cover of the second printing features art by Braithwaite and Ross never before published by DC Comics.

"Thank God (or in this case, DC) for this second printing," Krueger said. "It would be a sad thing if there was anyone who couldn't be here from the beginning for the be-all, end-all battle between the JLA and the ultimate conspiracy of evil."

"As a thank you to the retailers who ordered Justice #1 and the Justice: Superman Action Figure Exclusive, we're sending the same number of action figures to every retailer who qualified and ordered them the first time around at no charge," said Bob Wayne, DC's VP -- Sales. "So if you bought two Justice: Superman Action Figure Exclusive before, you'll receive two more for free."

WILDSTORM VS. ASPEN

WildStorm Productions is taking on Aspen Comics in an "Iron Chef" battle at the WildStorm artist group blog, Sun of Gelatometti.

"This was something we've been looking to put together for some time," Aspen's Vince Hernandez told The Continuum. "We thought it would provide a great opportunity for each company to display their young artists in a friendly and spirited competition. The real winners will ultimately be the fans, which is how we want it."

Matchups include:

* Week 1: Ale Garza vs Marcus To.

* Week 2: Carlos D'anda vs Koi Turnbull.

* Week 3: Richard Friend vs Micah Gunell.

* Main Event: Jim Lee vs Michael Turner.

Hernandez said the finished pieces will be auctioned off to benefit the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund.
