DC COMICS ROUNDUP

DC Comics on Tuesday unveiled the alternate covers by Adam Kubert and Andy Kubert for Sgt. Rock: The Prophecy, a six-issue mini-series written and illustrated by their father, Joe Kubert.

The issue, set to arrive in stores on Jan. 18, will be delivered to retailers in quantities of approximately 50 percent Joe Kubert covers and 25 percent each Adam and Andy Kubert covers.

"It is a large-size thrill for me to have both my sons doing these covers," Kubert said. "The biggest thrill came from the fact that they really wanted to do it -- they didn't have to be asked twice! And when they showed me the work in progress, it was so great. The miracle of having these guys recognized for their talent is just wonderful, and the other part of the miracle is that they're so enthusiastic!"

In other DC news:

* Chris Batista, penciller of Hawkman, JLA and other DCU projects, has signed an exclusive agreement with DC Comics.

"DC has felt like home for the last few years, and now I can say it truly is," Batista said. "From the Legion to the JLA, I've been allowed to play with some of the best toys in comics. With the energy and excitement that is coming from DC I can with all sincerity say my best is yet to come!"

"Chris has been a star in the making for a few years now, and has been one of the most exciting young talents I've had the pleasure of working with," said editor Steve Wacker. "I'm absolutely thrilled that we had a chance to make some long-terms plans with him, and once readers see what he has in the pipeline, they're going to be glad we locked him up."

* A sneak peek of the upcoming WildStorm project The American Way will be featured in Ex Machina #17.

Written by John Ridley and illustrated by Georges Jeanty and Karl Story, The American Way #1 is scheduled to arrive in stores on Feb. 22.

Ex Machnia #17 will be in stores on Jan. 11.
