PAINKILLER JANE'S EMMANUELLE VAUGIER

With the Painkiller Jane live-action movie set to debut on Sci Fi on Saturday, The Continuum caught up with the film's star, Emmanuelle Vaugier, for a brief e-mail interview.

The Continuum: How did the role come about for you?

Vaugier: I was approached with the script a little over a year ago, and after many meetings ended up with an offer to play the role of Jane Browning.

The Continuum: Jane seems to be a character of many levels. What's your take on her?

Vaugier: She's an ordinary girl faced with extraordinary circumstances.

The Continuum: Did you enjoy the physical aspects of the role?

Vaugier: I love working out and challenging my body in different ways. The role gave me an opportunity to learn more about certain types of martial arts and self defense as well as weapons safety and training.

The Continuum: The character's a bit different than the comics ... did you read the comics?

Vaugier: I was sent some of the comics, so was able to get a feel for what the role and who Jane was.

The Continuum: Can you talk about working with Tate Donovan and Richard Roundtree?

Vaugier: Tate and Richard were lovely to work with. They always made my day brighter!

The Continuum: Jimmy Palmiotti visited the set. Did he behave himself?

Vaugier: Does Jimmy ever behave himself??? Just kidding! He was great, I was very happy to have the opportunity to meet him.

The Continuum: Can you talk about your experience on Smallville?

Vaugier: Smallville was a blast to work on. I always looked forward to coming to set.

The Continuum: What's next for you? Are you interested in reprising Jane for a series?

Vaugier: I'm working on Two and a Half Men at the moment in LA. I would love to do Painkiller Jane the series. I think it would be a fun and challenging role to develop over the course of a season. We'll see what happens!
