WOLVERINE: ORIGINS CREATORS

Marvel Comics has announced the creative team of Daniel Way and Steve Dillon and a variant cover for the first issue by Michael Turner for Wolverine: Origins, the monthly series that launches in April.

The series will detail Logan/Wolverine's quest to set his past into order and fulfill a list of personal priorities. In the aftermath of House of M, he knows his origins completely but wants to explore that history and perhaps relive some of it. The new series promises revenge, validation, passion and globe-trotting.

"When it was decided that I would be allowed to continue my story of Logan's past and future in a brand-new series, free from any entanglements with the various upcoming crossovers, I...well, as geeky as it sounds, I was honored," Way said.

"This is one of Marvel's top two characters, so getting the green light to go ahead meant a great deal to me. I'm confident, however, that I'll nail this one -- I've been laying out the story for over a year now, cross-checking facts, keeping an eye on continuity, networking with other writers...in short, I've done my homework. To tell you the truth, I feel like the cat that ate the canary because only I and three other people on the planet know where this is all going...but only I know how it's going to get there."

Joe Quesada will be the series' regular cover artist, with Turner providing the variant for the first issue.

"This cover was a blast to draw," Turner said. "I studied the classic character and drew several layouts only to go back to the very first layout sketched. I had also just seen King Kong so the primal rage I tried to express with this piece was still on my mind. That's all the credit I'm taking because Peter Steigerwald's colors knocked this one over the fence! His visceral textures and color choices blew me away!"

"I am really looking forward to drawing Wolvie again sometime soon..."

G.I. JOE VS. TRANSFORMERS

The worlds of G.I. Joe and Transformers collide again in March with G.I. Joe vs. Transformers: The Art of War #1, the launch of a five-issue mini-series from Devil's Due Publishing.

"G.I. Joe vs. Transformers: The Art of War will bring together everything that stalwart fans of these properties love," said DDP senior editor Mike OšSullivan, "but the book will feel fresh and accessible for new G.I. Joe and Transformers readers as well. In addition this title brings together two power house studios, UDON and DDP, who will bring the fans what theyšve been waiting for."

The series is written by Tim Seeley, with art by Joe Ng and UDON. Art for #1 cover A will be provided by Ng and UDON; cover B is by Tim Seeley and Grafiksismik; and retailer incentive cover C is by Don Figueroa and Sunder Raj.

All five cover A's will connect to form a larger image.
