X3 UPDATE

The novelization of X3, written by Chris Claremont and based on the screenplay by Zak Penn and Simon Kinberg, is scheduled for release on May 16 from Del Rey.

Here's how the 352-page book is described:

"The X-Men, mutant heroes sworn to defend a world that hates and fears them, are back! This time, with the help of new recruits The Beast and Angel, they must face evolution itself in the form of their former teammate, Jean Grey! Possessed with the cosmic power of the Dark Phoenix, the resurrected Jean Grey has become a danger to herself, her mutant comrades, and the entire planet! To stave off this imminent threat to humanity, a potential cure is discovered and processed to treat -- and ultimately eliminate -- genetic mutations, once and for all! Now, as the battle lines are drawn, the X-Men, led by Professor Charles Xavier, must contend with both Jean Grey's world-consuming powers, as well as the malevolent Brotherhood, a band of powerful mutants organized under Xavier's former ally, Magneto!"

Claremont, who also wrote the X2 novelization, make a non-speaking cameo in X3.

NARWAIN'S ALBERT

Narwain Publishing has announced Albert, a four-issue, black-and-white series by writer Luca Tiraboschi and artist Massimo Noè that launches in May.

Here's how Narwain describes the book:

"The end is near for one of the world's greatest scientific minds, but he isn't going without a fight. Albert's accomplishments in the world of physics are astonishing and varied, but the old professor knows he's got much more to give. And so begins his race against the clock to complete his greatest equation, a formula that will bend time and allow him to live well past his allotted years. Albert's obsession with controlling time will prevent his passing...but at what cost?"

"Superheroes, what a passion! The pleasure and the excitement coming from so many years of reading and collecting comics were the inspiration for Albert," said Tiraboschi, who was the author of the thriller novel L'Ospedale Delle Bambole (The Dolls' Hospital). "The story lets me map fascinating physical-mathematical theories onto familiar comics concepts. Mixing science and occult the book's hero will go to the limit if reality and beyond. This is my first foray into the superhero genre and I'm as excited as I was reading those tales as a boy. "
