WONDERCON: BOOM! STUDIOS PANEL

SAN FRANCISCO -- The Stardust Kid comic book will move from Image Comics to fledgling Boom! Studios, publisher Ross Richie announced on Friday at the Boom! Studios panel at WonderCon in San Francisco.

The Stardust Kid is written by J.M. DeMatteis and drawn by Mike Ploog. Issues #1-3 came from Image, and Richie said the final two issues of the mini-series will come from Boom!.

"These creators have worked in comics for 30 years and I'm really excited to have them here," Richie said.

DeMatteis has a history with Boom!, writing Hero Squared with Keith Giffen.

In other highlights from the panel:

* X-Isle is a five-issue mini-series, written by Andrew Cosby and Michael Alan Nelson, with art by Greg Scott. The series is a bout an island that has been cut off from the rest of the world, evolving on its own with bizarre creatures.

* Dave Johnson provides the cover to Zombie Tales: The Dead, which ships in March. The book has stories by Nelson, Giffen, Johanna Stokes and John Rogers.

* Jeremiah Harm #1, which hit stores last week, had the largest print run of any Boom! title, and has sold out.

* Boom! is planning a second What Were They Thinking?! Giffen, Cosby and Rogers are providing the remixed stories.

* Cthulu Tales is a new horror anthology.

* Giffen continues to show his dark side with Tag, a three-issue mini-seris with art by Kody Chamberlin.
