V FOR VENDETTA UPDATE

Not only did Natalie Portman have her head shaved for V for Vendetta, she had it done in front of the cameras for a scene in the film.

It's a scene in which Evie, Portman's character, is tortured to reveal V's identity.

The film's hair stylist, Jeremy Woodhead, handled the shears in the scene, and director James McTeigue used multiple cameras becasue he would have only one take.

How did Portman handle the shaved look?

"It's been really nice to step away from vanity a little bit," she said. "The time you spend on your appearance as a woman -- if you put all that together you'd have an extra 10 years of your life. It's been great to get away from that. But at the same time, it takes a really long time to grow back, so the sooner, the better!"

SQUADRON SUPREME VARIANTS

Marvel Comics on Monday announced that Squadron Supreme #1 will have a variant cover and a variant sketch cover by Simone Bianchi.

Spinning out of Supreme Power, Squadron Supreme is not a MAX title. The series continues to be by J. Michael Straczynski and Gary Grank.

Here's how Marvel describes the book:

"The cast of Supreme Power, including Hyperion, Nighthawk, Blur, Power Princess, Doctor Spectrum and others are being joined by a new group of super heroes to form the Squadron Supreme. The U.S. government is looking to use the team to destroy threats both domestic and abroad, but Mark Miltonıs constant insubordination may lead the government to have to deal with the ever-growing threat of Hyperion, instead."

In order to spread the word about the launch of Squadron Supreme, Marvel is placing four preview pages from the first issue in several of the publisherıs top-selling titles.

Squadron Supreme #1 goes on sale on March 22.
