NEW YORK COMIC-CON: SPAWN PANEL

Spawn and Batman will meet again.

Spawn creator Todd McFarlane announced at his panel at New York Comic-Con on Saturday that he had just signed a contract that day for a Spawn/Batman one-shot.

McFarlane and Greg Capullo will be the creative team on the book, with DC Comics' Dan DiDio editing.

In conjunction with the book, McFarlane Toys and DC Direct will team up for a Spawn/Batman statue, based on the story.

"Batman is really my most favorite character after Spawn," McFarlane said.

NEW YORK COMIC-CON: SPIKE TV/BLADE PANEL

The upcoming Blade televison series figures to have a few Marvel guest-stars, it was revealed Saturday at the Spike TV/Blade panel at New York Comic-Con.

Comics writer Geoff Johns, who co-wrote the pilot movie with David Goyer and serves as a consulting producer, hinted at who might be in the show.

"There's a new adversary for Blade that we took from the comics," said Johns, who is writing two episodes. "We had to reinvent him a bit, but it's going to be pretty cool."

Johns also said that a name of a character will be mentioned in the pilot episode that Marvel fans should pick up on. When asked in the Nightstalkers will appear, Johns said, "Probably. Eventually. Kind of."

NEW YORK COMIC-CON: MARVEL'S CUP O' JOE PANEL

John Romita Jr. has extended his exclusive contract with Marvel Comics and will team with Neil Gaiman on the upcoming The Eternals, it was announced Saturday at Marvel's Cup O' Joe panel at New York Comic-Con.

"When it comes to drawing a comic book, there's nobody in the business better than Johnny," Marvel editor-in-chief Joe Quesada said.

Romita called The Eternals "a plum assignment."
