SPEAKEASY COMICS SHUTS DOWN Vito Delsante, an "unnofficial press liason" for Speakeasy Comics, who had two projects in the loop with the publisher, told The Continuum that Speakeasy has close shopped
In a statement released Monday, Delsante said: "As unofficial public relations for Speakeasy Comics, I feel it is my duty to inform everyone that as of 3:30 PM today, Speakeasy Comics has shut its doors and will not be publishing comics for, at the very least, the rest of the year. Most, if not all, creators have been contacted and informed. If I'm not mistaken, all books scheduled to ship in March will ship. April and May books are up in the air, while June books are cancelled."
Contacted by The Continuum, Delsante was asked why Speakeasy had shut down.
"Too many things to really narrow it down," he said. "I think it was a combination of factors. I'm not entirely sure, but if I were to guess, I'd say that the merger brought things to a halt while things were being worked out. In that time, books left, shipped late or were cancelled. So, in my eyes, I look there."
Delsante said that Speakeasy head Adam Fortier "wants to spend with his time with his family," and there will be no Speakeasy books in the future.
