CARTOON NETWORK UPFRONTS

Cartoon Network will broadcast several comics-based animated movies, the network announced at its upfront presentation in New York on Wednesday.

Teen Titans Tokyo will air on the network in the last fall, after its release on DVD.

Here's how the network describes the film:

"America's coolest heroes head to Japan in their first animated movie, Teen Titans Tokyo, airing in late fall. When a high-tech ninja attacks Titans Tower, Robin, Starfire, Cyborg, Raven and Beast Boy spring into action. Robin finds out that the ninja was sent by a mysterious and menacing Japanese criminal known as Brushogun, and the Teen Titans travel to Tokyo to track the villain down."

Ultimate Avengers, recently released on DVD, will air this spring on Cartoon Network, and two other direct-to-DVD Marvel/Lionsgate films, Ultimate Avengers 2, and Iron Man, will air in the fall.

Here's how the network describes Ultimate Avengers 2:

"Captain America and the rest of the Ultimate Avengers return to battle with a new set of villains. This time, the events are more threatening than ever."

Here's how the network describes Iron Man:

"Iron Man tells the story of billionaire Tony Stark, an alcoholic and one of the worldıs most imaginative weapons defense technology creators. When a powerful competitor almost succeeds in killing him, he must build a modern-day suit of armor to stay alive. As he becomes more agile and powerful, Stark decides to use it to fight crime as Iron Man."

In other notes from the upfronts:

* As anticpated, Justice League Unlimited will end its run of original episodes in April with a two-part episode.

* The Batman will return to the network this summer with 26 new-to-the-network episodes.

* The series featuring the Legion of Super-Heroes is headed for Kids' WB!, although it might eventually air on Cartoon Network, like The Batman.
