Superman Returns: Superman 13" Deluxe Collectors Action Figure (JUNE PRE-ORDER)
FRIDAY, MARCH 31, 2006

Warner Bros. has provided The Continuum with the latest in a series of video journals from 300, the upcoming film based on Frank Miller's graphic novel.

In the clip, costume designer Michael Wilkinson discusses the creative process involved in creating a wardrobe inspired by the painterly pages of Miller's graphic novel.

300 is a ferocious retelling of the ancient Battle of Thermopylae in which King Leonidas (Gerard Butler) and 300 Spartans fought to the death against Xerxes and his massive Persian army. Facing insurmountable odds, their valor and sacrifice inspire all of Greece to unite against their Persian enemy, drawing a line in the sand for democracy.

Directed by Zack Snyder, the movie also stars Lena Headey, David Wenham, Vincent Regan, Rodrigo Santoro and Dominic West.

Warner Bros. has provided The Continuum with an official description of Superman Returns, due in theaters on June 30.

Here's how the studio describes the film:

* "Following a mysterious absence of several years, the Man of Steel comes back to Earth in the epic action-adventure Superman Returns, a soaring new chapter in the saga of one of the worldıs most beloved superheroes. While an old enemy plots to render him powerless once and for all, Superman (Brandon Routh) faces the heartbreaking realization that the woman he loves, Lois Lane (Kate Bosworth), has moved on with her life. Or has she? Supermanıs bittersweet return challenges him to bridge the distance between them while finding a place in a society that has learned to survive without him. In an attempt to protect the world he loves from cataclysmic destruction, Superman embarks on an epic journey of redemption that takes him from the depths of the ocean to the far reaches of outer space."

In other Superman Returns news:

* The film has been rated PG-13 for "some intense action violence."

* IMAX Corporation and Warner Bros. Pictures announced on Thursday that Superman Returns will become the world's first live-action Hollywood feature to be converted from 2D to IMAX 3D. IMAX Corporation will use its proprietary 2D to 3D conversion technology to convert approximately 20 minutes of the film into An IMAX 3D Experience.

"Releasing select sequences of Superman Returns in IMAX 3D marks a groundbreaking moment in movies," said Dan Fellman, president of domestic distribution at Warner Bros. Pictures. "This film is going to give fans an opportunity to be immersed in a major live-action motion picture like never before."

"The test scenes that have been converted into IMAX 3D look, sound and feel absolutely amazing," Superman Returns director Bryan Singer said. "The magic of IMAX 3D will envelop audiences in this story, enabling them to feel the emotion, drama and suspense in a completely new and unique way."

The film will be simultaneously released to IMAX and conventional theatres on June 30.

Marvel Comics on Friday provided The Continuum with a preview of Annihilation: Ronan #1, which goes on sale on April 26.

The issue is written by Simon Furman, with art by Jorge Lucas and a cover by Gabrielle Dell'Otto.

"As a result of the shockwaves from Annihilation: Prologue, the Kree judge, jury, and executioner is propelled into his own miniseries in the pages of Annihilation: Ronan #1.

"When Ronan is striped of his rank, the former ³Accuser² sets out to clear his name, but itıs easier said than done with the Annihilation Wave making its way through space obliterating everything in its past.

"When the Accuser stands as the accused, the rest of Marvelıs cosmic characters had best be on guard because Ronan will stop at nothing to rejoin the ranks of the Kree."
