X-Men: The Last Stand news -- and much more!!!


Medicom Toy has relased images of its 12" Wolverine figure from X-Men: The Last Stand.

In other X-Men movie news:

* On May 19 -- the final Friday of the May sweeps -- Fox will broadcast X2, the 2003 film. It will air from 8-10:30 p.m. (ET/PT).

* The film's official premiere will probably be that of the Cannes Film Festival. No word yet on a domestic premiere, although it might be in New York, where the first X-Men film's premiere was held.


Jon Favreau, who played Foggy Nelson in 2003's Daredevil, will be the director for Marvel's Iron Man movie, The Continuum has confirmed.

Favreau, who recently directed Zathura: A Space Adventure, plans of making Iron Man his next film. He will work with Arthur Marcum and Matt Holloway on the script. Production could begin as early as next year for a 2008 release.

In other Marvel movie news:

* A Spider-Man 3 poster featuring Topher Grace as Venom that has been circulating the internet is a fake.

* The Hollywood Reporter listed several creators involved with Marvel's in-house productions. They include Shaun of the Dead director Edgar Wright as director and co-writer with Joe Comish on Ant-Man; David Self as writer of Captain America; Andrew Marlow as writer of Nick Fury; Mark Protosevich as writer of Thor; and Zak Penn as writer of Hulk 2, which reportedly will feature The Abomination as villain.

All of the above are slated to be distributed by Paramount Pictures, except for Hulk 2, which will be distributed by Universal.


The WB has released five images from "Oracle," the Thursday, May 4 episode of Smallville.

Here's how the network describes the episode:

"Clark (Tom Welling) is stunned when he sees his father's ghost (John Schneider) at the graveyard, but becomes even more confused after Jonathan tells him he must kill Lionel (John Glover). Meanwhile, Lex (Michael Rosenbaum) develops a vaccine for Fine's (guest star James Marsters) deadly virus, but Fine intervenes and injects him with the vaccine, which causes a shocking reaction in Lex."

Fox has released details for its May sweep episodes, including three each for The Simpsons and Family Guy.

The Simpsons will conclude its 17th season on Sunday, May 21 with an episode guest-starring Mandy Moore. Immediately following that will be a 90-minute season finale of Family Guy guest-starring Beverly Hills 90210 cast members Tori Spelling, Jason Priestley and Jennie Garth.

Marvel Comics has provided The Continuum with a seven-page preview of Wolverine #42, due in stores on May 24.

The issue is written by Marc: Guggenheim, with art by Humberto Ramos.

Here's how Marvel describes the issue:

"Wolverine is on a mission of vengeance after the tragedy in Stamford, CT that occurs in Civil War #1, but he isnšt the only one on the trail of the person responsible. In Wolverine #42, a mysterious trio is also hunting the culprit, but will they aid Logan or just get in his way?

"When Logan learns the identities of the three hunters, even he becomes unsettled. Just wait until Logan finds out who they answer to."
