WIZARD WORLD PHILADELPHIA: ASPEN'S SHRUGGEDAspen Comics on Thursday staged the world premiere of its newest property, Shrugged, at Wizard World Philadelphia with the release of Shrugged #1.
Featuring a new concept from Michael Turner and Frank Mastromauro, Shrugged is unlike any title the company has previously released. Aspen began releasing its exclusive Wizard World Philadelphia covers on Friday at the convention, with the regular edition of Shrugged #1 set for release in stores on Wednesday.
"We're ecstatic about premiering our newest property since Aspen was first formed," Turner said. "Soulfire and Fathom have been hugely successful for us and we fully anticipate the same for Shrugged because of the work we've put into every facet of the series."
Shrugged features the artwork of Micah Gunnell and Jason Gorder, with colors by Beth Sotelo.
Here's how Aspen describes the book:
"Shrugged centers on a teenage boy named Theo, and the ongoing struggle of his inner conscience. Enter Ange and Dev, the opposing sides to Theo's veritable decision-making process. However, Ange and Dev come to discover there is more they are capable of than simply deciding Theošs fateperhaps the fate of mankind altogether."
"Shrugged is an adventure with psychological overtones, but there are some very identifiable themes in the book such as friendship, love, and adolescence," Mastromauro said. "We wanted the reader to identify with these elements of the story."
