X-MEN: THE LAST STAND BOX OFFICE

X-Men: The Last Stand currently reigns as the top-grossing movie of the year in the United States after vaulting past Ice Age: The Meltdown over the weekend.

The third movie in the X-Men franchise pulled in an estimated $15.6 million over the weekend to push its total to $201.7 million. Of the top five films so far, X-Men: The Last Stand opened in the fewest theaters.

X-Men: The Last Stand placed third at the box office over the weekend, trailing Cars' $62.8 million and The Break-Up's $20.5 million.

The Last Stand should pass X2's $214.9 million this weekend.

SUPERMAN DOCUMENTARY DVD

The Continuum has obtained a preview of the menu screens for Look! Up in the Sky: The Amazing Story of Superman documentary, which will be released on DVD on Tuesday, June 20.

Narrated by Kevin Spacey, who plays Lex Luthor in Superman Returns, the one-hour, 50-minute documentary takes viewers from Superman's very first incarnation -- as a bald bad guy with mind powers -- through the new movie. It details events in comic books, animation, film, television and merchandising, and how real-life events impacted the character's direction.

The DVD was directed by Kevin Burns, executive produced by Burns and Superman Returns director Bryan Singer and written by James Grant Goldin and Steven Smith.

Among those interviewed are comic-book creators Paul Levitz, Stan Lee, Mike Carlin, Dennis O'Neil, Elliot S! Maggin, Dan DiDio, Gail Simone, Art Thibert and Mark Waid.

There is a substantial segment devoted to the Smallville television series, with comments from executive producers Al Gough and Miles Millar and Annette O'Toole, who also talks about playing Lana Lang in the third Superman movie.

The menus below reveal all the chapters and their topics. Click on the thumbnails for larger images and look for more Superman DVD news soon here in The Continuum.
