Marvel Comics announced on Tuesay that it is going back to press on the sold-out Civil War #2, the issue in which Peter Parker revealed his identity to the world.

The new printing will feature a new cover by Steve McNiven. The issue will be in stores on July 12.

According to Marvel, Civil War has been its top-selling title in years.

łOn issue #1, we're days from hitting the 300K mark and surpassing it," said David Gabriel, Marvel's VP of Sales David Gabriel. "With the variants, we pretty much have passed it already, but looking at it as a single cover book - as retailers are already claiming - it has sold the most copies of any book in many, many years.

"Retailers also are claiming that they have seen more new faces than ever before, come in to purchase the series and all the tie ins."

* Brandon Routh, star of Superman Returns, was a guest on NBC's Today Show on Tuesday. He is scheduled to appear on CBS' The Late Show with David Letterman on Tuesday night.

*According to the I.T.R.S. rankings, The WB's Smallville placed 164th out of 223 prime-time programs for the season.

* Along with its September solicitations, Marvel Comics on Tuesday announced that artist Howard Chaykin has joined writer Marc Guggenheim on the creative team of its new Blade title.

*"I think Howard's the perfect choice for Blade," Guggenheim said. "Let's be honest, his involvement brings a level of cache, of class to the project that I don't. Moreover, he's the pitch-perfect choice given what we're trying to do with this new Blade series, which is to appeal to both fans of horror and super-hero action alike. Howard's style is 'clean' enough to give it that classic super-hero look, but he can also pull off the darkness that a vampire-hunting comic requires."

* Red Eagle Entertainment and Alias Enterprises announced on Tuesday that they have entered into a far-reaching business relationship to develop, produce and publish new comic books and graphic novels for global markets based on Red Eagle-managed properties and brands.

In addition, Red Eagle will have a first-look right to develop motion pictures, television programming, video games, and other ancillary products that are based upon Alias comics, graphic novels and original story concepts.

Red Eagle also announced that Mike Miller, the Executive Director of Alias Enterprises and original artist on Red Eagle's New Spring comic publication, will bring his artistic skills and direction to future Red Eagle projects, including unannounced projects based upon other works in Robert Jordan's series The Wheel of Time.
