Marvel news -- and much more!!!

The film is 310 days away, but Spider-Man 3 generated a massive amount of interest on Tuesday with the release of the first trailer.

Even's servers were pushed to the limit with traffic upon the trailer's release Tuesday afternoon.

Sony Pictures likely won't release numbers, but slow downloads at the release indiciated millions of users.

For such an early preview, the trailer revealed a lot of interesting images, including Sandman in action and a brief glimpse of the Harry-Goblin.

Marvel Comics on Tuesday revealed the two covers to Wolverine: Origins #5, which will be released in a 50/50 split.

The covers are by Joe Quesada, the book's regular cover artist, and Gary Frank.

Wolverine: Origins #5, due in stores on August 9, is the conclusion of the "Born in Blood" arc by Daniel Way and Steve Dillon.

Here's how Marvel describes the issue:

"It's Logan vs. Captain America vs. the X-Men in a super-charged standoff that will end with a revelation that will utterly and completely blow both Logan's and readers' minds."

Marvel Comics announced on Tuesday that it is going back to press on the following sold-out Civil War tie-ins: New Avengers: Illuminati Special, Wolverine #42, Amazing Spider-Man #532, Thunderbolts #103 and She-Hulk #8.

Featuring a special variant cover scheme running across three of the back-to-presses, New Avengers: Illuminati Special, Wolverine #42 and Amazing Spider-Man #532 will lose the standard Civil War banner and feature an iconic image from the interior of each specific book. For instance, the New Avengers: Illuminati Special Second Printing will feature a cover of the Alex Maleev image of Tony Stark sitting alone after the Illuminati have broken apart.

The second printing variants of Thunderbolts #103 and She-Hulk #8 will feature all-new covers by Mark Bagley and Juan Bobillo respectively. Both artists are providing covers for books they used to call home. The sketches shown here are not the final covers; they will be in full color.

According to Marvel, on the cover of She-Hulk #8, She-Hulk will say, "Okay, now. This is your second chance. If you don't buy my book this time, I'm gonna come to your house and rip up all your Civil War variants."

The second printings are due in stores on July 19. Click on the thumbnails above for larger images.

Top Cow Productions on Tuesday announced that a second Freshmen mini-series -- created by Seth Green and Hugh Sterbakov -- will launch in November.

The six-issue Freshmen II: Fundamentals of Fear will feature art by Will Conrad.

Like the first mini-series, there will be plenty of humor, but new elements will be introduced as well.

"Freshmen II is going to be darker and scarier than our first series," Sterbakov said. We have a great new villain in Mr. Fiddlesticks, a character from a series of childrens' books, who is haunting our heroes, and a couple new romances to stir things up.

"There's a great twisting mystery at the heart of this series, which will further explore some of the threads we set-up in the original, like Annalee's father's interest in the Ax-Cell-Erator, the device that created our team. Also, some characters who were in the background of the original series come to the fore, like the Green Thumb and the Drama Twins.

"I looked to one of my favorite sequels of all time, The Empire Strikes Back, for inspiration, and Rodolfo Migliari's fantastic cover reflects the direction of the next series perfectly."

Dynamite Entertainment announced on Tuesday that artist Sergio Cariello and colorist Dean White have joined writer Brett Matthews and cover artist/designer John Cassaday on its Lone Ranger comic book.

"John and I looked at a lot of artists for this project. When we saw Sergio, and then Dean - we knew the search was over," Matthews said. "Sergio's work is distinct and has a point of view that lines up with where we're taking The Lone Ranger, a character we all love and have a great deal of respect for. Working with Sergio has been a pleasure. He's a real pro."

"Sergio has a healthy blend of the modern American comic influences mixed with a confident European brush stroke," Cassaday said. "We felt it was important to find an artist who inked himself as well as an artist who understood we wanted to see true West, not Hollywood West."

Cariello said he is enjoying the origin aspects of the opening arc.

"I love westerns: the guns, the cowboy gear, the horses, the landscape and the Indians," he said. "The Lone Ranger is an iconic hero of the Western World."

The Lone Ranger will launch in September. - More Product. More Exclusives.
