Superman news -- and much more!!!

Brandon Routh, who stars in the title role in Superman Returns, said he is encouraged by early response to the film.

Routh snuck into a theater on Tuesday night to watch the film with an audience.

"It was very cool to see that they were reacting the same way that people did who were obliged to clap and cheer," Routh said on CBS' The Early Show on Wednesday. "They all clapped and cheered and laughed at the same things, and some things that I hadn't heard people laugh at, they laughed at.

"It was awesome knowing it was getting the same response from fans."

The film will have the widest release in Warner Bros.' history with 4,065 theaters by Friday. Superman Returns is projected to pass $100 million by July and fare better than Batman Begins did last summer.
