HEROES CON: ROSARIO DAWSON

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Rosario Dawson is looking forward to a trip back to Sin City.

Appearing at Heroes Con on Friday and promoting her new comics series, Image Comics' Occult Crimes Taskforce, Dawson said she's "really excited" to reprise her role of Gail.

"They're going to be doing A Dame to Kill For, which precedes the first movie," she said. "It will explain why I'm so mad at Dwight."

The sequel also means a return to the sexy outfitting, which Dawson said she doesn't mind -- too much. As one of the last actors cast in Sin City, Dawson was given Gail's costume by a reluctant designer who said, 'You don't to wear it, I would understand, but here it is.'"

Dawson went for it.

"I'm only going to be in my 20's once, so I thought I might as well wear it," she said. "I can look back on it when I'm 80 and say, 'Man, I was hot!' She sent me flowers because she was so excited I wore this crazy outfit.

"Luckily, Frank Miller really liked drawing that character so she was on screen a lot. Or maybe that's no so luckily."

Dawson likened the extensive green-screen filming of Sin City to theater. "It freed you up to concentrate on the character and the story," she said.

In other highlights from the panel:

* Dawson was accompanied at the panel by O.C.T. writer David Atchison and her uncle, Gus Vasquez, a comic-book artist.

The mini-series, which sports Dawson's likeness as the lead character, launches this week from Image. (For a seven-page preview, CLICK HERE).

Dawson, who created the book with Atchison, said being involved in the comic book, as well as movie producing, has allowed her to work on projects that she likes.

"It's nice to have a little more control and put out something that I care about," she said. "Just the idea that I could participate in storytelling in a way I never had before. And I got to work with some really talented people."

She said she wants to continue producing films but that directing is not an immediate goal.

O.C.T. is being developed with a possible movie treatment in mind. The book is focused on the taskforce, so Dawson's character doesn't necessarly have to center stage in future comics.

* Dawson said that Clerks II, which opens July 21, was her favorite movie to have worked on.

"We stayed at a Day's Inn next to where the movie was filming," she said. "It was retarded fun all the time. We played poker, hung out and even had a donkey show."

She said the film is a "raunchy comedy" but it "has a lot of heart."
