SAN DIEGO -- Adam Brody, star of Fox's The O.C., is teaming with Flash: The Fastest Man Alive writers Danny Bilson and Paul DeMeo on the six-issue mini-series Red Menace, WildStorm productions announced on Friday at its panel at Comic-Con International.

The mini-series will feature art by Jerry Ordway and will begin in November. It is set in 1950s Los Angeles, as it tracks the career of patriotic hero the Eagle after he's been blacklisted as a communist.

"I didn't want to ruin anybody else's character," Brody joked.

Following are news highlights from the panel, which featured more than a dozen creators. Look for more details on the books and comments from the creators soon here in The Continuum.

* Todd McFarlane has provided a variant cover to Wildcats #1. WildStorm editor Scott Dunbier said that all the original Image Comics creators -- Marc Silvestri, Erik Larsen, Rob Liefeld, Jim Valention and Whilce Portacio -- will be providing covers.

* Following its announcement of a Nightmare on Elm Street comic by Chuck Dixon and Kevin West, WildStorm announced two more licensed horror titles from New Line: Texas Chainsaw Massacre, starting in December, and Friday the 13th, starting in January.

Coinciding with Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning, the upcoming motion picture from New Line, Texas Chainsaw is an ongoing series, written by Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning, with art by Wesley Craig, a cover by Lee Bermejo and a variant cover by Tim Bradstreet.

Friday the 13th is written by Justin Gray and Jimmy Palmiotti, with an artist to be announced and covers by Ryan Sook and Tim Bradstreet. Palmiotti told The Continuum it will be a mini-series.

* WildStorm revealed J. Scott Campbell variant cover to Gen 13#1, the debut issue of the new series by Gail Simone and Talent Caldwell that launches in October.

Campbell is also providing a variant to Tranquility #1, the new series by Simone and Neil Googe.

* StormWatch PHD, by Christos Gage and Doug Mahnke, is scheduled for a November launch. It will have a variant cover by Trevor Hairsine.
