COMING WEDNESDAY

A First Look extravaganza -- more than 250 pages!!!

THE PUNISHER SPECIAL EDITION DVD

Lionsgate has provided The Continuum with a first look at the special edition release of The Punisher on DVD, scheduled for Nov. 21.

The DVD will feature an expanded cut of the 2004 film starring Thomas Jane and John Travolta, with more than 17 minutes of new material.

Among the other tentative features, with descriptions from Lionsgate, are:

* Animated Kuwait Deleted Scene: The Kuwait scene, originally slated to open The Punisher, was never shot due to budget constraints. Audiences will finally be able to enjoy this scene as it is recreated in animated form. Tim Bradstreet, the artist responsible for Punisher comic book covers, creates a dynamic and impressionistic action sequence which complements the visual language of the film's credits. Audiences will have the option of playing the animation before the picture begins so the scene can be appreciated within its original context. In the style of the opening credit sequence for The Punisher, viewers we will see Bradstreet's style slowly unravel the storyline.

* The Punisher Comic Book Gallery: This feature will allow viewers to click through a gallery of select past and present Marvel comic book covers featuring The Punisher. A treasure trove for The Punisher comic book fans -- this is the ultimate compendium to anyone¹s collection.

* "Making Of" Featurette

* All-new Tim Bradstreet illustrations

A Punisher sequel remains in development, with Jane slated to return in the lead role.

THE BATMAN SEASON OPENER

The fourth season of The Batman will kick off on Saturday, Sept. 23 on Kids' WB! with an episode titled "A Matter of Family" that introduces Robin to the series.

Here's how the network describes the episode:

"When the circus comes to Gotham, ruthless crime boss Tony Zucco demands protection money from the Flying Graysons, a family of trapeze artists. They refuse to pay and Zucco exacts revenge, leaving, Dick, the youngest Grayson an orphan. Having experienced a similar tragedy himself, Batman is driven to take down Zucco and in the process discovers an unexpected bond with Dick."

Kevin Conroy, who has voiced Batman from Batman: The Animated Series to Justice League Unlimited, is providing the voice of Dick Grayson's father. Mark Hamill, who voiced the Joker in those same series, is providing the voice of Zucco.
