DC animation news -- and much more!!!

THE SIMPSONS NEW EPISODE

"Please Homer Don't Hammer 'Em," a new episode of The Simpsons, is scheduled to air on Fox on Sunday, Sept. 24 at 8 p.m. (ET/PT).

Here's how Fox describes the episode:

"Hoping to see a new side to Homer, Marge convinces him to buy a refined collection of carpentry books. To Marge's dismay, the books only gather dust until she accidentally breaks a nightstand - and uses the books to fix it herself. Soon Marge is hammering together everything from birdfeeders to doghouses and it isn't long before she decides to transform her new skills into a full-fledged business.

"Unfortunately, the residents of Springfield don't trust a handywoman to make repairs, so Marge hires Homer to pose as a 'front' while she handles the real work.

"Meanwhile, Bart finds out that peanuts are no longer allowed at Springfield Elementary because someone suffers from an allergy. But this loss becomes his treasure when he finds out that the allergy belongs to his nemesis, the one and only Principal Skinner. Before long, both Bart and Homer are in over their heads and it's up to Marge to nail things back together."

Fox will air two repeats of The Simpsons from last season on Sunday, Oct. 1 -- "The Wettest Stories Ever Told" at 7 p.m. and "Bart Has Two Mommies" at 8 p.m.

PAINKILLER JANE TV UPDATE

Jimmy Palmiotti's exclusive contract with DC Comics will not impact his involvement on Sci Fi's Painkiller Jane television series.

"Jimmy is playing a big role in the writing of the series," executive producer Jason Netter told The Continuum.

Palmiotti on Saturday announced that he and writing partner Justin Gray had signed exclusives with DC. Palmiotti and Gray currently are writing Jonah Hex and Uncle Sam and the Freedom Fighters for DC and Heroes for Hire for Marvel.

The Painkiller Jane series, based on the Event Comics character created by Palmiotti and Joe Quesada, is currently in pre-production in Vancouver.

Emmanuelle Vaugier, who played Jane in the pilot movie, will not return for the series.

Netter said casting is currently going on, with production slated for November.
