SMALLVILLE UPDATE

The CW has released 17 images from the upcoming "Arrow" episode of Smallville.

The images feature Justin Hartley as Oliver Queen/Green Arrow. Also shown are Tom Welling as Clark Kent, Erica Durance as Lois Lane, Annette O'Toole as Martha Kent and John Glover as Lionel Luthor.

The episode hasn't been scheduled yet by The CW.

In other Smallville news, The CW has released a description for "Wither," the episode scheduled to air on Thursday, Oct. 12.

Here's how the network describes the episode:

"Still guilt-ridden about the destruction he caused while he was Zod, Lex throws a charity costume ball for the town and hires the All-American Rejects to perform. Meanwhile, Clark and Chloe pursue a creature who uses male human bodies as potting mix to procreate, and the hunt intensifies after the creature gets hold of Jimmy Olsen. Lois reluctantly agrees to be Oliver Queen's date to Lex's ball."

Tracy Bellomo wrote the episode, which was directed by Whitney Ransick

IMAGE COMICS' DRAIN

Image Comics has released details about Drain, the monthly series by C.B. Cebulski and Sana Takeda that begins in November.

Here's how Image describes the book:

"Drain follows the story of Chinatsu, a woman whose life is irrevocably changed when her and her ancient clan of Japanese assassins is ravaged by vampires. Rather than take her life, Chinatsu was turned and left as a witness to the fate of her clan in order to spread the legend of the vampires in Japan.

"Having been turned into a creature of the night, Chinatsu has dedicated herself to tracking down and destroying the vampire lord who ruined her life, a quest that will not only take her around the world but through time, too."

"Here's where I get to combine my love of vampire mythology and world history," Cebulski said. "With Drain, what I wanted to do was follow Chinatsu as time passes around her and the world changes before her eyes. We will see some of the key events in human history play out through the eyes of a vampire... and examine her role, good or bad, in them. She's going to be all over the place... and time."

Takeda is a digital painter from Japan known her design work at Sega for their video game RF Online, and most recently the debut issue of X-Men: Fairy Tales.

"Sana is simply an amazingly talented illustrator. From the moment I saw her artwork, I knew I had to work with her!" Cebulski said. "The level of detail she's able to paint into every panel is simply incredible. Drain would not be the book it is without her. You open up the comic and lose yourself in the mood and environment she creates on every page."

Drain #1 will be in stores on Nov. 15.
