COMING SUNDAY

Television news -- and more!!!

HEROES' "BETTER HALVES"

NBC has released nine images from the upcoming "Better Halves" episode of Heroes.

Of note are the images that show the art of Isaac Mendez, played by Santiago Cabrera. The images are by comics artist Tim Sale.

In the series, Mendez is a a heroin-addicted artist whose dark, violent and apocalyptic paintings are actual premonitions of future events.

The images also show Milo Ventimiglia as Peter Petrelli, Eden McCain as Nora Zehetner, Ashley Crow as Sandra Bennet and Hayden Panettiere as Claire Bennet.

The "Better Halves" episode hasn't been scheduled yet by NBC, but it will likely be the sixth episode of the season.

The network has also released three more images from Monday's night's pilot episode. They feature Ali Larter as Niki Sanders.

IMAGE COMICS' THE NIGHTLY NEWS

Image Comics will launch The Nightly News, a six-issue series by Jonathan Hickman, on Nov. 1.

Here's how Image describes the book:

"The Nightly News finds John Guyton broke, divorced and living in the streets of New York City one day, and at war with the corporate news media the next. All because he gets recruited to join the Cult of the Voice."

"It's a story about revenge," Hickman said. "Not long ago, I found myself wondering what happens to the people who get their lives taken apart in the scandal of the week fashion that these mainstream and cable news outfits employ to boost ratings and revenues.

"After doing the research, seeing how some of these peoplešs lives have been ruined, I was surprised there hasnšt been any real reciprocity. This is that story. Like all revenge stories, at some point the question of 'Is it worth it?' gets asked and the answer will definitely surprise a lot of people."

The entire book is comprised of double-page spreads.

"It looks really cool," Hickman said. "Art style is obviously very important to any comic, but with The Nightly News I really wanted to bridge the gap between traditional comic art and graphic design. Plenty of books recently have tried to do this, I think this might be the first one to get it right."

CASPER ON CARTOON NETWORK

Casper's Scare School, a full-length animated movie, will premire on Cartoon Network on Friday, Oct. 20 at 7 p.m.

Here's how the network describes the episode:

"Casper the Friendly Ghost goes back to school to learn how to be a scary hobgoblin, but he returns to his good-natured ways when he stumbles upon a diabolical plan to take over the world. "

Providing voices for the special are Jim Belushi, Bob Saget, Phyllis Diller and Dan Castellaneta.
