FIRST LOOKS

FIRST LOOK: STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION: THE SPACE BETWEEN #1

Star Trek: The Next Generation: The Space Between #1 will arrive in stores in January from IDW Publishing. The issue is written by David Tischman, with art by Casey Malone.

Here's how IDW describes the issue:

"Celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Star Trek: The Next Generation with this all-new relaunch of the Trek franchise in comics. In the first issue of this special miniseries, planet Tigan-7 requests entry into the Federation, but the Enterprise is attacked as a hostile invader when it makes contact, and the planet's leader has no record of any communication with any outside world. Riker, Tasha, and Data beam down to the planet in secret, and discover an information-obsessed culture, rewriting pieces of its 6,000-year history on a daily basis, to maintain political stability. An all-new, all-different, Next-Gen adventure, featuring Captain Jean-Luc Picard and the crew of the Enterprise D!"

Star Trek: The Next Generation: The Space Between #1 will be 32 pages and will cost $3.99.

FIRST LOOK: MARVEL HOLIDAY SPECIAL

Marvel Holiday Special will arrive in stores on Dec. 6 from Marvel Comics. The issue is written by Mike Carey, Roger Langridge, Scott Gray and Shaenon Garrity, with art by Langridge, Mike Perkins and Ron Lim and a cover by Frazer Irving.

Here's how Marvel describes the book:

"Celebrate the holidays with your favorite Marvel characters in the Marvel Holiday Special! Featuring three stories by three creative teams.

"Collaborators Roger Langridge and Scott Gray, the duo behind the uproarious Marvel Monsters: Fin Fang Four, team-up again to give you the story of Fin Fang Four taking on Hydra in order to save the holiday season.

"Mike Carey and Mike Perkins bring you the story of Annihilus and the Thing. Taking over the cosmos is stressful, just ask Annihilus. What better way to unwind than with a holiday party, Ben Grimm-style.

"Rounding out the special are four one-page stories written by Shaenon Garrity with art by Ron Lim, featuring the Incredible Hulk. The Hulk might be popular, but not popular enough to be invited to the A.I.M. holiday party? You've never seen a party crasher like the Hulk!"

Marvel Holiday Special will be 48 pages and will cost $3.99.
