SMALLVILLE: "JUSTICE" AND "HYDRO"

The CW on Tuesday released 17 images from the next two new episodes of Smallville.

Eight of the images are from "Justice," which airs on Thursday, Jan. 18:

Here's how the network describes the episode:

"The Green Arrow (Justin Hartley) sends out for reinforcements and Bart Allan, a.k.a. The Flash (guest star Kyle Gallner), Aquaman (guest star Alan Ritchson) and Cyborg (guest star Lee Thompson Young) return to Smallville to help him take down LuthorCorp's secret lab. During a break-in at the LuthorCorp facility, Bart is captured and tortured by Lex (Michael Rosenbaum), and Clark (Tom Welling) sets off to rescue him but is felled by meteor rock. An alarmed Chloe (Allison Mack) goes to Oliver for help and the newly formed 'justice league' springs into action to rescue Clark and Bart."

The episode was written and directed by Steven S. DeKnight.

Nine of the images are from "Hydro," which airs on Thursday, Jan. 11:

Here's how the network describes the episode:

"After Lana (Kristin Kreuk) confesses to Chloe (Allison Mack) she has reservations about marrying Lex due to her lingering feelings for Clark (Tom Welling), The Daily Planet gossip columnist, Linda Lake (Tori Spelling), runs a story detailing their exact conversation. Determined to prove she didn't give the story to Lake, Chloe investigates her fellow co-worker and discovers she has the ability to turn herself into water and uses it to secretly overhear conversations for her column. Meanwhile, Lois (Erica Durance) begins to suspect Oliver (Justin Hartley) is the Green Arrow and enlists Clark's help to prove it."

The episode was written by Brian Peterson and Kelly Souders and was directed by Welling, the second episode he has directed.

SPIDER-MAN 3 UPDATE

FX's preview of Spider-Man 3, shown at the end of the network's three-hour broadcast of Spider-Man 2 on Tuesday night, included a few new images but was mostly a compilation from the previous two trailers.

As far as Spider-Man 2 went, the FX cut started a compilation from Spider-Man as a new introduction, leading into Alex Ross' paintings and the opening them for Spider-Man 2.

The backyard scene between Mary Jane and Peter following his birthday party was lengthened and slightly altered. The added material had a different look visually, as though it had not been prepared in the same process the final film did.

ZENESCOPE'S RETURN TO WONDERLAND

Zenescope Entertainment will launch Grimm Fairy Tales Presents: Return to Wonderland in May with a special 99-cent #0 issue. The #1 issue is scheduled for July.

Raven Gregory, of The Gift and Se7en, is writing Return to Wonderland.

"I always loved the dark nature of fairy tales," Gregory said. "That sense of a moral lesson wrapped up in a horror movie -- just waiting for the big bad wolf to jump out at you from around the next corner. With Return to Wonderland we wanted to rip off the pretty bow and cute wrapping paper and reveal the real meat of the beast -- but we still wanted to pay homage and follow up on the events of the original."

"From concept to finished script this series is nothing short of an intense and emotional thrill ride," said Ralph Tedesco, vice president of Zenescope. "Raven was asked to step to the plate on this and he smashed it out of the park. I truly believe this series will show comic book fans that Raven Gregory easily deserves being mentioned as one of the best young writers in the industry."

The 99-cent issue will have five pages of original story, character sketches and other bonus material. It features a cover by Al Rio.
