DOCTOR STRANGE ANIMATED MOVIE![]() The Invincible Iron Man movie, due on DVD on Jan. 23, will contain a preview of the fourth Marvel/Lionsgate animated film, Doctor Strange.
Supervising director Frank Paur and screenwriter Greg Johnson return from Iron Man for Doctor Strange. Like Iron Man, Doctor Strange is an origin story.
"Our goal is to continue to raise the bar with each of these movies, and we've met our goal," Marvel Studios' Eric S. Rollman told The Continuum during a recent visit to the MLG studio in West Toluca Lake, Calif.
"The movie is spectacular. We worked with Answer Studio in Tokyo. Primarily that's the group that used to be Disney Tokyo, and this is their first non-Disney project, so they poured their best resources into it."
The preview is actually the opening scene of the film. It involves Mordo and a group of mystics taking on a monster. Although magically masked to the citizens of the city, the battle is seen by Stephen Strange, not yet a sorcerer.
"Itıs really a different kind of movie," Rollman said. "He's certainly not your traditional super-hero. He doesn't have those characteristics. He's a sorcerer."
Doctor Strange is targeted for an August release.
