MARKOSIA NAMES E-I-C

Markosia Publishing, the UK publisher of titles including Starship Troopers, Smoke & Mirror, Scatterbrain, Shadowmancer and The Lexian Chronicles, has named Brian Augustyn its new editor-in-chief.

Augustyn replaces Richard Emms.

"I was introduced to Brian through our director of operations, Chuck Satterlee, this time last year." said Harry Markos, managing partner and publisher at Markosia. "Having spoken to him regularly throughout the year, I've been amazed by his immense knowledge of the industry. When Rich decided to leave, Brian was the first name I thought of who could replace him."

"I like the diversity and chances Markosia stands for, their line is already delightfully eclectic and engaging," Augustyn said. "I think that kind of variety is exactly what the comics marketplace needs. Hopefully the comics marketplace will agree."

Markosia also appointed Tony Lee as group editor.

"With Brian coming in as a 'new broom' so to speak, we decided that now was the perfect time to re-structure," said Markos. "We've brought in new designers, new letterers, and we've convinced long term writer Tony Lee to take the position of Group Editor, with his remit being an overseeing of the current Markosia line and the creators that produce them."

Markosia's plans for 2007 include an ongoing Starship Troopers series, an adaption of Bram Stoker award nominee Joe Nassise's international bestseller Heretic, Augustyn's The Witness, Kit Wallis and John Sheridan's Breathe, and the collected editions of Shadowmancer, Dark Mists, Midnight Kiss and The Lexian Chronicles.

IMAGE COMICS' UNRAVEL

Image Comics' Unravel, a four-issue mini-series that launches in April, is the latest title in the recent crime comic renaissance.

Unrvael is written by Dan Wickline, with art by Homeros Gilani.

Here's how Image describes the book:

"Unravel begins with a stormy night foot pursuit through Central Park leaves Officer Lindsey Shaw at the mercy of an amnesiac stranger. Attempts to identify the mystery man point to a connection with a decade-old cold case murder that is not only unlikely, but seemingly impossible. Thrust into a case where nothing makes sense, Shaw must figure out how her case ties to a man killed while in police custody and then convicted posthumously of murder."

"Lindsay comes from a long line of NYPD police officers," Wickline said. "It's in her blood. She trusts her gut and takes the risks necessary to get the job done. The problem is that the case she's working on is unlike any she's ever seen. She's forced to look at everything -- and everyone -- she trusts differently. Even herself."

Unravel #1 will arrive in stores on April 25.
