MAGGIE GYLLENHAAL IN THE DARK KNIGHT

Maggie Gyllenhaal is in final talks to take over the role of Rachel Dawes in The Dark Knight, Warner Bros.' sequel to Batman Begins.

According to Variety, Gyllenhaal will replace Katie Holmes, who bowed out of the film earlier this year.

Gyllenhaal joins a cast that includes the returning Christian Bale (Bruce Wayne/Batman), Michael Caine (Alfred), Gary Oldman (James Gordon) and Morgan Freeman (Lucius Fox) and newcomers Heath Ledger (Joker) and Aaron Eckhart (Harvey Dent).

Production on The Dark Knight should begin as early as late spring for a summer 2008 theatrical release. Christopher Nolan is returning as director.

THE BOYS BEGIN AT DYNAMITE IN JUNE

Dynamite Entertainment's first issue of The Boys, the former WildStorm series by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, will be #7 in June.

Dynamite also announced it will publish the first trade paperback collection of The Boys, collecting # 1-6, in June.

"I'd like to thank Paul Levitz and everyone at DC Comics and Jim Lee and everyone at Wildstorm Productions for helping make this a smooth transition," said Dynamite's Nick Barrucci. "I'm pleased to welcome The Boys to Dynamite Entertainment and look forward to working with Garth and Darick for years to come.²

"I'd like to thank all concerned at both DC and Dynamite for making this such a smooth and civilized transition," Ennis said. "My priority now is to get back to work on The Boys."

"I'm quite excited about the opportunities that our series the Boys will gain by moving to Dynamite!" Robertson said. "I am also looking forward to many more years with DC Comics, working on a variety of excellent projects with the great people I know there.

"I believe that this has been an unlikely 'win-win' situation for all involved, and glad we can all move on, still smiling. I'm thankful to Paul Levitz and the DC staff for making this a smooth transition.²

In addition to illustrating The Boys, Robertson will continue his relationship with DC Comics, where he remains under exclusive contract.

Diamond Comic Distributors will continue to distribute The Boys #1-5, originally published by WildStorm/DC Comics, while supplies last. The Boys #6 is sold out at the publisher. WildStorm/DC Comics also announced today that orders for the previously solicited #7-9, as well as orders for the first trade paperback collection of the series, have been cancelled.
