COMING THURSDAY

First Looks -- and much more!

PAINKILLER JANE UPDATE

Kristanna Loken, star of the upcoming Painkiller Jane, said she's glad the show is on Sci Fi Channel.

"Artistically, I'm very happy being on a cable network because you have the freedom to kind of go for it in a lot of different ways that you really can't (on a network series)," Loken said. "There's more rules and regulations as far as storylines or characters go.

"I like to be able to give it my all, and there's a lot less censorship on cable."

Loken and showrunner Gil Grant agreed that having a 22-episode order locked in is a benefit for the series.

"You get a chance to find your characters and find your sea legs without being yanked," Grant said.

Painkiller Jane premieres on April 13. Look for more on the show soon here in The Continuum.

BRIEFLY

* IDW Publishing has announced that the first two issues of Transformers: The Official Movie Prequel have sold out.

"This is especially gratifying to me," said IDW editor-in-chief and series co-writer Chris Ryall, "since we've been doing Transformers comics for over a year now, and I've got to see from the start how fan interest in the movie has turned from wariness to absolute fervor."

* Marvel Comics has announced that New Avengers #28, Ms. Marvel #13 and Thunderbolts #112 have all sold out. According to the publisher, it currently has no plans to go back to press on the issues.

* Dark Horse Comics has announced that Eric Powell is returning to The Goon ongoing with #19, due in stores on July 11.

The story is the beginning of major upheavals in the Goon universe. The Zombie Priest and his latest abominations continue to plague the streets, but his madness and use of forbidden magic is drawing forces to Lonely Street that he might not be able to control.
