Painkiller Jane news -- and more!

SPIDER-MAN 3'S J.K. SIMMONS

J.K. Simmons, who returns as Daily Bugle publisher J. Jonah Jameson in Spider-Man 3, said that there was definitely a sense of comfort in working with Tobey Maguire and director Sam Raimi again.

"We sort of hit it off on the first movie," Simmons said. "Tobey and Sam and I are all in the room together all the time and found a nice level of giving each other a hard time in a fun way and cracking jokes. Itıs like Romper Room in a way."

Spider-Man 3 actually marks the fifth time Simmons has worked with Raimi. In addition to the three Spidey films, Simmons also appeared in Raimi's The Gift and For Love of the Game.

"He's a great comedian, he's a great actor, a great chameleon," Raimi said. "He can become anybody."

In Spider-Man 3, Jameson pits Peter Parker and Eddie Brock against each other for a Daily Bugle staff opening, offering it to the one who can take an incriminating photo of Spider-Man.

"He's a lot of fun and brings a ton of energy to the set," Maguire said of Simmons. "He brings a lot of comedy to the movies, which is good."

In other Spider-Man 3 news, Sony has released another behind-the-scenes video. This one has producer Grant Curtis talking about the Goblin's liar.

PAINKILLER JANE UPDATE

Melanie Papalia is playing Amanda Worth, Jane Vasco's neighbor, in Sci Fi's upcoming Painkiller Jane television series.

Here's how Sci Fi describes the character:

"Amanda Worth, Jane's neighbor with an affinity to loud music, is a true believer in the fight against the 'system.' Her real talent in life is her ability to survive using extreme resourcefulness and street smarts. An orphan, she's learned to be independent and gets everything she needs from her network of 'connections.' Amanda is one of the rare few who can soften, if only in small doses, Jane's hardened exterior."

Papalia, an accomplished dancer, has previously guest-starred in such series as Smallville and Blade: The Series.

Painkiller Jane premieres on Friday at 10 p.m. (ET/PT).
