David Goyer will direct Magneto for 20th Century Fox, Variety reported on Friday.

Goyer, whose writing credits include all three Blade films and Batman Begins, will work off a script from Sheldon Turner. Goyer recently directed Blade: Trinity and The Invisible, which reaches theaters on Friday.

Magneto figures to be the second X-Men spin-off film, following Wolverine.

According to Variety, the prequel will have Magneto meeting Professor Xavier when Xavier is a soldier liberating the Auschwitz concentration camp. Magneto begins hunting down and killing Nazi war criminals who tortured him, and his lust for vengeance turns Xavier and Magneto into enemies.
