WIZARD WORLD PHILADELPHIA: DC COMICS COUNTDOWN PANEL

PHILADELPHIA -- New Countdown titles, a new Suicide Squad book and the end of The Flash: The Fastest Man Alive were among the announcements at DC Comics' first panel at Wizard World Philadelphia on Friday.

Bob Wayne led the panel, which include editors Mike Carlin, Adam Schlagman and Eddie Berganza, artist Jim Calafiore and writer Ron Marz.

* Through a telephone hook-up with Dan DiDio at Heroes Con in Charlotte, N.C., it was "announced" that The Flash: The Fastest Man Alive #13 will be the final issue, followed by a new Flash #1.

* Countdown to Adventure will spotlight Adam Strange and pick up events after 52 with Animal Man and Starfire. "Things are very different," Berganza said, noting that Animal Man and Starfire's power. The book will also provide insight into the new

Adam Beechen and Eddie Barrows are writing the lead story, with Justin Gray and Fabrizio Fiorentino handling the backups featuring Countdown's new character, Forerunner.

* Countdown to Mystery, an eight-issue series, stars in September. The Helmet of Fate followup Steve Gerber, back-up character Eclipso. "Eclipso is big player in Countdown as well," Carlin said.

Justiniano will provide art for Doctor Fate, and Stephen Segovia art for Eclipso.

* Countdown Presents the Search For Ray Palmer launches in September with a visit to the WildStorm Universe. The six-issue series is written by Ron Marz, with art by Paco Herrera and a covers by Arthur Adams.

* Marz explained that the series focuses on Donna Troy, Jason Todd and Kyle Rayner, accompanied by a Monitor called Bob, through a search of the Multiverse.

"I can't tell you why we're searcing for Ray Palmer, but it all plays into Countdown and what comes after Countdown," Marz said. "This is a lynchipin series and puts these characters into situations and settings you probably never thought would take place in a real DC book.

"It's a chance for me to write Kyle and Donna again, which is also fun for me."

* Wayne said that Gail Simone's arrival as writer of Wonder Woman will not signal a reboot.

* Suicide Squad returns in September with an eight-issue series, written by John Ostrander, with art by Javier Pina and Robin Riggs. DC showed the first issue's cover by John K. Snyder.

* Wayne said that readers have not seen the last of the Dibny's.

* Asked about Kyle Rayner, Carlin noted that even though he doesn't have his own book, he will be a new player.

* Carlin said Marc Guggenheim will be writing some Batman Confidential stories.

* The new creative team for Justice League of America will be announced Saturday.

* Carlin said Simone's last page of Birds of Prey will offer more information and on Misfit and the character will remain in the book.
