WIZARD WORLD PHILADELPHIA: MONDO MARVEL PANEL

PHILADELPHIA -- Marvel kicked off its Wizard World Philadelphia panels on Friday with a Mondo Marvel presentation.

Editor-in-chief Joe Quesada led the panel, and was joined by Tom Brevoort, Bill Rosemann, C.B. Cebulski and Jim McCann.

* Adam Pollina returns to Marvel with Angel: Revelations, a five-issue series that starts in September and is written by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa. Quesada said Pollina is using a new art style.

* Editor Tom Brevoort said that David Morrell's story Captain America: The Chosen is "real earthy." The Marvel Knights six-issue mini-series deals with the final days of Captain America, and was written before plans to kill Captain America. Art is by Mitch Breitweiser, with covers by Travis Charest. The Charest covers will be made into posters.

* Contributors to the September-launching Marvel Comics Presents bi-weekly series will include Marc Guggenheim, Stuart Immonen, Kathyrn Immonen, Stuart Moore, Rich Koslowski, Dave Wilkins and Clayton Henry. Covers are by J. Scott Campbell.

* Bill Rosemann said four issues of Nova will tie into Annihilation: Conquest.

* Ultimate Spider-Man will feature a story called "Death of a Goblin." Quesada said there will be big news from writer Brian Michael Bendis later at the convention.

* Iron Man: Enter The Mandarin is a five-issue mini-series that launches in September. In the vein of Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, it is written by Joe Casey, with art by Eric Canete.

"It recounts and modernizes and provides behind-the-scenes informatoin about Iron Man's first encounter with the Mandarin," Brevoort said. "It should be a nice story for anybody who doesn't know who the Mandarin is."

* Punisher War Journal #11 will feature the Winder Soldier.

* X-Men: Emperor Vulcan, a five-issue series by Christopher Yost and Paco Diaz, launches in September.

* Tomm Coker is drawing Moon Knight #13.

* Penance: Relentless, by Paul Jenkins and Paul Gulacy, launches in September.

* The cover to New Avengers #34 was shown. "All sorts of crazy things are going on," Tom Brevoort said.

* Thor #3 features Thor vs. Iron Man.

* Quesada said there will be some creative changes for Moon Knight, but McCann said that Charlie Huston will still be on the book. An announcement will be made at Comic-Con International.

* Quesada said that even though J. Michael Straczynski is leaving Amazing Spider-Man, he'll be doing more Marvel work than before.

* Rosemann said he was surprised at the death of the first Quasar. He said that heroes on Earth are unaware of the Annihilation events. "Did you read New Avengers #31?" Brevoort said.

* Brevoort said that there is a timeline for events in the Marvel Zombies universe, and where the current story in Black Panther takes place.

* Spider-Man will return to his red-and-blue costume in September.

* Details for Ultimates 3 will be revealed at Comic-Con by writer Jeph Loeb.

* Brevoort said he is trying to arrange creators' schedules for the "second season" of Young Avengers. He said the book will probably return early next year.

* The Immortal Iron Fist Annual #1 will be by Matt Fraction, Ed Brubaker, Mike Bremerton and Howard Chaykin.

* Brevoort said the new Captain Marvel book will launch in November. Creators will be announced at Comic-Con.

* Cebulski said The Loners is planned to end with #6, but #3 has sold out, and he hopes to see more of the characters in the future.

* Quesada said that Thor's new look is a combination of Nordic and Jack Kirby inspirations. He said that artist Oliver Coipel designed the look, with minimal editor instruction.

* Rosemann said Wraith is a new character with ties to Marvel characters. "I can say no more," he said.

* Quesada said there are plans for Runaways after Joss Whedon's run.
