WIZARD WORLD PHILADELPHIA: MARVEL COMICS' CUP O' JOE PANEL

PHILADELPHIA -- Marvel Comics editor-in-chief Joe Quesada staged his traditional Cup O' Joe panel at Wizard World Philadlephia on Saturday, announcing X-Men: Messiah Complex and answering questions.

Panelists also included C.B. Cebulski, Tom Brevoort, Jim McCann and Bill Rosemann.

Below are highlights.

* All four covers for Spider-Man: One More Day will be done in retro-style, with text on the covers.

* The House of M: Avengers, a five-issue mini-series by Christos Gage and Mike Perkins, is slated for November.

Editor Bill Rosemann said the mini-series comes out of a House of M scene where Sam Wilson walked into a bar with Luke Cage and several other heroes.

The X-Men: Messiah Complex begins with a one-shot by Ed Brubaker and Marc Silvestri and all stems from Wanda's "No More Mutants."

The event will run November through January in a linear fashion through four X-titles -- X-Men, Uncanny X-Men, X-Factor and New X-Men -- and will feature "a lot of big villains" and "returning friends."

* Peter David is the new writer of She-Hulk, following Dan Slott's final issue #21. Covers are by Mike Deodato.

* Astonishing X-Men will continue, with an announcement in a few months.

* Quesada said he is waiting to get all the scripts for the second series of Ultimate Iron Man.

* Quesada said there is a creators plan for Amazing Spider-Man being published three times a month, and announcements will be made.

* Will readers be seeing Adam Warlock soon? "When we have the right story for Adam Warlock, absolutely," Rosemann said, noting that certain characters need a large stage.

* The Hood will be appearing New Avengers #32.

* Talking about the recent widening sales gap between Marvel and DC, Quesada said, "Right now the Marvel Universe is a very exciting place. Even people who said they hate Civil War are buying are books right now."

* New Excalibur will not be part of Messiah Complex, but Cebulski said events are coming up that will make Excalibur fans happy.

* McCann said Marvel is looking for more "magic things" after Mystic Arcana.

* Marko Djurdjevic will be providing a four-page sequence in New Avengers #9, eight pages in Daredevil #100 and a painted Spider-Man mini-series.

* Brevoort said there will be a second Daredevil Omnibus.

* Brevoort said that are talks about more Agents of A.T.L.A.S. and they will appear in Spider-Man Family #3.

* Brevoort said the next Thunderbolts arc will show more of what happens at Thunderbolts Mountain.

* Brevoort said he anticipates a November release for the "lost issue" of Fantastic Four by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. "Joe Sinnott has inked everything and we're getting color in on the classic portion of the story," Brevoort said.

* Brevoort said that Daniel Knauf and Charlie Knauf have extensive plans for the Mandarin that could take two or three story arcs to complete.
