KIDS' WB!'S THE SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN

Kids' WB! has provided The Continuum a first look at artwork from its upcoming The Spectacular Spider-Man animated series.

The series originally had the working title of Amazing Spider-Man, and the official announcement of the "Spectacular" title came the same week Marvel Comics announced the reduction of its Spider-Man ongoing titles to just Amazing.

Spectacular Spider-Man was a title that ran for more than 200 issues.

"The use of the 'Spectacular' title is an homage to Marvel's wildly popular series of Spider-Man comics, and is very reflective of the enthusiasm and high regard we have for the production," said Betsy McGowen said, Kids' WB! senior vice presdient and general manager. "This promises to be a stand-out animated series that will perfectly complement both Sony Entertainment's box office-shattering films and the amped-up action on Kids" WB! every Saturday."

Here's how the network describes the show:

"The new animated series -- slated to premiere on Kids' WB! in early 2008 -- picks up the world-renowned web-slingeršs mythology at the beginning of his herošs journey as a not-so-typical 16-year-old with new-found powers engaging the multi-leveled pressures of teenage life while combating bigger, badder super-villains in the real world."

WHO WANTS TO BE A SUPERHERO? -- SEASON 2

Sci Fi Channel has released images of the 10 contestants for its second season of Who Wants To Be A Superhero?, the reality series hosted by Stan Lee.

The second season, from Nash Entertainment and Lee's POW! Entertainment., begins on Thursday, July 26 at 9 p.m (ET/PT).

The season will have eight episodes -- two more than the first season. The winner will be featured in a Dark Horse Comics book by Lee and as an action figure from Shocker Toys.

"I never thought anything could be more of a blast than writing stories about superheroes," Lee said. "I was wrong! Appearing on Who Wants To Be A Superhero? has been one of the most exciting, fun-filled experiences ever! Imagine, instead of looking at panels of costumed cavorters on a page, I'm looking at them and talking to them and reacting with them in real life! And the tremendous feedback from fans via letters, e-mails and blogs is half the fun!"

Contestants chosen from auditions around the country are:

* Basura (aka Aja De Coudreaux / Oakland) enlists the help of all bugs everywhere and uses her mystical powers to turn trash into treasures.

* Braid (aka Crystal Clark / Bloomington, Ill.) makes herself any age, race, or gender and can turn her hair into crime-busting tentacles.
