JIMMY PALMIOTTI TALKS PAINKILLER JANE

Jimmy Palmiotti has seen his character Painkiller Jane come to life on the live-action Sci Fi television series. Now, he's had the chance to write her small-screen adventures, scripting this Friday's episode, "League."

The Continuum caught up with Palmiotti on Sunday night to talk about the episode and the show. To read the interview and see more images from the episode, CLICK HERE.

SMALLVILLE CASTING

Despite unsourced published reports, actor Michael Cassidy has not signed yet to appear in The CW's Smallville as the new editor-in-chief at The Daily Planet.

It's possible that Cassidy will end up in the role, but as of Monday afternoon that was not official.

Neither the network nor Warner Bros. has announced him in the role.

The character's name is Grant Gabriel. He is scheduled to appear for the first time in the second episode of the upcoming season and might have some romantic involvement with Lois Lane.

The announcement of the character who will be playing Supergirl will be made at Comic-Con International in San Diego on Saturday, July 28. According to sources, that role has not been cast yet.

BRIEFLY

* DC Comics on Monday announced Zudacomics.com, a new web comics imprint for new online content featuring new characters and concepts.

The site is scheduled to launch in October and will feature multiple ongoing web comics. Following the site;s launch, the majority of the web comics will be selected by Zudacomics.com's visitors, who will vote on new web comics presented to them in periodic competitions. Winners of the competitions will receive commissions to create a year's worth of their web comics for the site, and will have their work published in print formats as well.

The web comics will consist of a series of 4:3 aspect ratio screens, so that users will be able to read an installment without opening an additional window in their browser or excessive scrolling. Ongoing Zuda web comics will run for at least 52 total installments, in addition to the initial submission.
