SATURDAY, AUGUST 11, 2007WIZARD WORLD CHICAGO -- MARVEL'S CUP O' JOE PANELROSEMONT, ILL. -- Marvel Comics staged its Cup O' Joe Panel on Saturday at Wizard World Chicago.
Panelists included Joe Quesada, Dan Buckley, C.B. Cebulski and Jim McCann.
For running highlights, check below:
* Annihilaiton: Conquest #1 will reveal the villain in November.
* Iron Man/Dr. Doom will complete the trilogy by David Michelinie and Bob Layton, with Ron Lim also on board.
* Ultimate Hulk/Iron Man is by Warren Ellis and Cary Nord.
* Marvel Illustrated: Picture of Dorian Gray is by Rob Thomas and Sebastian Fiurama.
* Alex Ross returns to Marvel on a Captain America project, with the word "Return" on the promotional artwork. Quesada declined to reveal details.
* Buckley said Marvel's digital plans will be revealed "sooner rather than later."
* Quesada said Mark Millar is on board for 12 issues of Fantastic Four.
* Cebulski said that Ed Brubaker expressed interest at the recent X-Men summit in Los Angeles.
* Teams' lengths on Amazing Spider-Man will vary. McCann said the four writers are on for a year, but other artists might join the book.
* Buckley said The Dark Tower has been "one of the most pleasure and creative experiences we've been in." McCann said the second Dark Tower series will be in 2008.
* McCann said another writer will be picking up the Ant-Man character.
* McCann said there will be more What If? stories.
* Quesada said there are no plans for Joss Whedon at Marvel after Runaways.
* Quesada said that because Tim Sale is exclusive at DC, there are no plays for more "color" books like Daredevil: Yellow by Sale and Jeph Loeb.
* Quesada said there will be a new Squadron Supreme creative team announced.
* Cebulski said the Marvel Holiday Special will include a 10-page Loners story featuring Julie and Power Pack.
* Cebulski said he will be writing Avengers Fairy Tales early next year.
* Quesada wouldn't discount a Winter Soldier series, but it probably won't happen soon.
* Cage will come from the Marvel Knights imprint.
* Quesada said there are no plans for Great Lakes Avengers.
* Which characters should readers keep an eye on during Messiah Complex? Cebulski: "Gambit."
* Spider-Woman by Brian Michael Bendis and Alex Maleev remains on the agenda.
* Any plans for Union Jack or Cloak and Dagger? "Not yet," Quesada said.
Buckley said he's waiting for the right pitch on Cloak and Dagger, calling them "cool characters."
* Quesada said he's having a blast on Spider-Man: One More Day, but he has to be careful about future art considerations. "Hopefully, something will entice me to do it again."
* Mark Bagley's run on Mighty Avengers starts with #7, and McCann said there will be more news on him soon.
* Quesada said that if Warren Ellis wants to return to Nextwave, he will resume the book.
* McCann said because Alan Davis' ClanDestine doesn't hook heavily into continuity, Marvel will wait for a bulk of the work to be turned in before soliciting it.
* The Eternals ongoing is slated for 2008, McCann said.
* Quesada said the Terry Moore/Humberto Ramos run on Runaways will be "significant." "We want them on the book as long as we can," Quesada said.
* Quesada said he's only seen the first episode of SciFi's Painkiller Jane and doesn't have any plans for Ash.
* McCann said that the second Zombies series is "Zombie Civil War."
* Quesada said that Franklin Richards will always be portrayed a little boy.
* Quesada said that Ultimate Hulk/Iron Man should be a bookstore draw, especially with Iron Man and Hulk movies next year.
* Quesada said sales have been "great" on Thunderbolts and Ellis will remain on the title.
* Ed McGuinness has a Hulk story coming up in Marvel Comics Presents.
* Quesada said Marvel Boy will be part of "something very big" and referenced events in New Avengers.
* Buckley said there will be a Civil War hardcover.
