EVA MENDES JOINS THE SPIRIT

Eva Mendes will play Sand Seref in The Spirit movie, sources have confirmed for The Continuum.

The Spirit marks Mendes' second comic-book role. She played Roxanne Simpsons in this year's Ghost Rider. Mendes has also expressed interest in an animated version of The Pro.

"I love good versus evil," Mendes said of her affinity for comic-book movies. "I love that. I obviously love good prevailing over evil."

Mendes joins a cast that includes Gabriel Macht (The Spirt), Scarlett Johansson (Silk N. Floss) and Samuel L. Jackson (The Octopus).

Sand Seref is The Spirit's long-lost lover. The two were torn apart as teenagers when Sand's father was accidentally killed by the Spirit's uncle.

Production on The Spirit, written and directed by Frank Miller, is expected to begin in New Mexico in October. The film is from Odd Lot Entertainment and Lionsgate.

FEEDBACK IN MEGA SNAKE

Sci Fi Channel has released the first image of Feedback from the Mega Snake movie.

Feedback is Matthew Atherton, winner of the first season of Sci Fi's Who Wants To Be A Super Hero? series.

Here's how the network describes the movie:

"Mega Snake, starring Michael Shanks (Stargate SG-1), is the thrilling tale of a serpent with supernatural powers unwittingly unleashed upon the residents of a small town. Before long, the reptile grows to a gargantuan size, wreaking havoc on everything in its path. When the snake threatens the lives of a group of children at a carnival, it's up to Feedback to save the day."

Mega Snake airs Saturday at 9 p.m. (ET/PT).
