COMING WEDNESDAY

Animation news -- and much more!

LEGION, THE BATMAN SEASON PREMIERES

Legion of Super Heroes and The Batman will be in new time periods when their seasons premiere on Kids' WB! on Saturday, Sept. 22.

Legion will air at 11 a.m., with The Batman at 11:30 a.m.

The new Saturday morning lineup will also include Will & Dewitt at 7 a.m.; Magi-Nation at 7:30 a.m.; Tom and Jerry Tales at 8 a.m. and 8:30 a.m.; Skunk Fu! at 9 a.m.; Shaggy & Scooby-Doo Get A Clue! at 9:30 a.m.; Eon Kid at 10 a.m.; and Johnny Test at 10:30 a.m.

Both Legion and The Batman will open up with two-parters that spotlight Superman.

Here's how the network describes Legion's second season:

"The second season of Legion of Super Heroes finds the group fulfilling their collective destiny, each member elevating his skills to new levels ... just in time to face even greater challenges. A incomprehensibly undefeatable nemesis -- Imperiex, the destroyer of galaxies from the rich annals of DC Comics -- puts the Legion into action alongside new team members. Superman returns from the 21st century with greater development of both his physical prowess and far better utilization of his powers to help the Legion toward victory in the 31st century and beyond. Moreover, the Legion finds a surprising, new ally from across the space-time continuum -- a 41st century Superman, cloned from the original Superman with alien DNA added to the mix for new, enhanced powers -- to assist in its efforts to rid the universe of this powerful foe. Along the way, the LOSH -- including new members like Chameleon Boy -- provides the perfect complement of heroics and comedy to the efforts of the Supermans."

Here's how the network describes The Batman's fifth season:

"Four-time Emmy Award winner The Batman will focus its new season on the introduction of Batman's Justice League peers. Expect amped-up action and heightened stakes as Superman, Green Lantern, The Flash, Green Arrow, Martian Manhunter and several others work in concert with Batman -- and even more of his amazing technological wonders -- to defend Gotham from a seemingly never-ending roster of super villains. The usual suspects return with nefarious new schemes and more sophisticated gadgetry as the Joker, Penguin, Harley Quinn and Mr. Freeze are joined in their quest to rid Gotham of any nocturnal winged creatures by the likes of Sinestro, Scarface, Mirror Master, Metallo, Clayface and even Lex Luthor, who enlists Poison Ivy and her enchanting spores to turn Superman against Batman in the two-part season premiere."

Look for much more on both shows soon here in The Continuum.

* Mark Sable said that the new Image Comics mini-series Fearless will be "far from typical" in terms of super-hero comics.

"The lead is a literal man without fear, as behind the mask he's paralyzed with a crippling anxiety disorder, but an anti-fear drug enables him to fight the war on crime," said Sable, who is joined on the book by co-writer David Roth and artist P.J. Holden. "A life of dependency crashes down when his supply runs completely dry. What comes next is the crux of the series."

The mini-series will be four issues. Fearless #1 will be in stores on Nov. 7.

* Marvel Comics has released the cover image to White Tiger: A Hero's Compulsion TPB. The trade paperback collects the six-issue mini-series by Tamora Pierce, Timothy Liebe and Phil Briones and will be in stores on Sept. 26.
