The CW has released five images from the "Kara" episode of Smallville.

The images show Laura Vandervoort as Supergirl, Tom Welling as Clark Kent and Erica Durance as Lois Lane.

"Kara" is the seventh season's second episode, following the season-opening "Bizarro." Although the network hasn't announced an air date for the episode, it is expected to air on Thursday, Oct. 4.

Smallville's version of Kara was born on Krypton and is the daughter of Zor-El, Jor-El's brother. Kara possesses all of Clark's powers and can fly.

"She's really going to be a hand grenade this season, and I mean that in a really good way," said Smallville executive producer Al Gough.

"It's been a whirlwind. It's been a lot of fun," Vandervoort said.

In other Heroes news, series creator Tim Kring said he is "thrilled" about DC Comics' Heroes hardcover collection, which will be in stores on Nov. 7 through its WildStorm imprint.

"They've worked painstakingly with every aspect of the publication -- from the color to the paper, to the printing itself -- to make sure this is a spectacularly handsome collection," Kring said.

"The Alex Ross and Jim Lee variant covers as well as The Tim Sale Gallery are wonderful bonuses. If you're a fan of the show, we're sure that you'll want to share in this amazing experience."
