COMING FRIDAY

Marvel First Looks, Smallville, The Batman, Legion of Super Heroes, movie news -- and more!

DEAN CAIN ON SMALLVILE

The CW has provided The Continuum the first two images of Dean Cain from his upcoming guest stint on Smallville.

Cain, who starred in ABC's Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, is playing a character named Dr. Curtis Knox in the Smallville episode "Cure."

Here's how The CW describes the episode, which is scheduled for Oct. 18:

"Chloe (Allison Mack) learns that a doctor, Dr. Curtis Knox (Dean Cain), has been treating meteor-infected people and removing their abilities. Desperate to get rid of her powers, Chloe makes an appointment to see him, unaware that Dr. Knox has a nefarious plan to kill his patients and harvest their organs. Meanwhile, Kara (Laura Vandervoort) cons Jimmy (Aaron Ashmore) into helping her locate her crystal and defies Clark's (Tom Welling) order to stay on the farm after she discovers its whereabouts. Lana (Kristin Kreuk) sets up secret surveillance of Lex (Michael Rosenbaum)."

Rick Rosenthal directed the episode, which was written by Al Septien and Turi Meyer.

THE SIMPSONS: "HOMER OF SEVILLE"

Fox has released a promotional image of Placido Domingo from "Homer of Seville," Sunday's new episode of The Simpsons.

Here's how the network describes the episode:

"Homer injures himself in a fall, and while in the hospital he develops the ability to sing in a beautiful, operatic voice whenever he is lying on his back. Mr. Burns overhears Homer during one of his singing sessions at the hospital and immediately hires him to sing the lead in his production of La Bohème. Although Homer has to lie down during the performance, he wows the crowd at the Springfield Opera House.

"Homer becomes an enormous celebrity, especially with the ladies -- much to Marge's chagrin. While running from a mob of crazed fans, Homer is saved by a mysterious woman named Julia (Maya Rudolph), who turns out to be a little too concerned for Homer's well-being."
