Alaina Huffman is playing Black Canary in an upcoming episode of The CW's Smallville, The Continuum has learned.

It will be Huffman's second comic-book television role this year. She played Maureen Bower on Sci Fi Channel's Painkiller Jane through most of the season before her character was killed on a mission.

Huffman will appear in an episode that features Green Arrow. Justin Hartley is reprising his Season 6 role as Oliver Queen.

The episode, titled "Siren," has not been scheduled by The CW but should air early next year.
