10TH MUSE OPTIONED

CastleBright Studios has optioned the 10th Muse comic-book series by Darren G. Davis and BlueWater Productions, BlueWater announced on Tuesday.

Producers Jay Douglas and Nav Gupta will develop the property at the newly formed, NBC/Universal-based CastleBright Studios.

Douglas and Gupta also recently picked up rights to the Scorpion novel and the Broken Sword video-game series.

"We know there were many suitors vying for this property, but somehow the Greek gods smiled upon us," Gupta said.

According to the publisher, talks have already begun for the title role.

Davis created The 10th Muse in 2002. Another of his properties, The Legend of Isis, is set up at Paramont Pictures.

"CastleBright shares my vision for this to become a film and I am excited to be a part of this," Davis said.

DABEL BROTHERS ROUNDUP

Dabel Brothers on Tuesday announced that Chuck Dixon and Brett Booth will be the creative team on Dean Koontz's Frankenstein: Prodigal Son.

"Dean Koontz's Frankenstein is due out in May 2008, but we're already halfway through the first issue," said Les Dabel, vice president of Dabel Brothers Publishing. "And between Mr. Koontz's source material, Chuck's stellar adaptation, and Brett's incredible artwork, I think this book is going to be one of the best we've ever put together!"

"This is a book that was made for comics," Dixon said. "Dean has a story here that begs for visuals, from dizzying Himalayan mountainscapes to creepy urban dungeons. This is perhaps the easiest adaptation I've ever worked on. There's so much here!"

Booth has worked with the Dabel Brothers before on Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter.

"I'm trying to work my way through all the major monster categories," Booth said. "Next up, I'll be looking for something with a mummy! Visually, this should be fun, and Chuck's done a great job with the adaption."

In other Dabel Brothers news, the publisher announced that Dresden Files: Storm Front will debut in mid 2008 as a monthly series.

Dabel Brothers will release a four-part original story Dresden Files beginning in April, written exclusively for comics by Jim Butcher and featuring an untold story of Harry Dresden.
