Bluewater Productions will be expanding its Ray Harryhausen Presents line in 2008, adding nine new titles.

In conjunction with the 50th anniversary of Harryhausen films, Sony is releasing It Came From Beneath the Sea and Earth vs. The Flying Saucers on DVD. Bluewater will release comics inspired by these classics as well, and Sony's DVDs will feature previews of the comics as part of the special features.

"There are some cool stories that we are working with," said Bluewater publisher Darren G. Davis. "The Elementals was a story that was not made into a film and we wanted to bring that cool story to life."

Bluewater will also be launching its first ongoing series based on Wrath of the Titans.

"We wanted to test the waters before we jumped into ongoing series, and 2008 is the time to start," Davis said. "We will also be looking at developing an ongoing Jason & the Argonauts series."

Transfuzion Publishing has announed that it is launching with its first titles in February. The company, co-founded by comics veterans Gary Reed and Rafael Nieves, will focus almost exclusively on trade paperbacks, blending collections of previous published material and new material.

Leading off in February will be Of Scenes and Stories, a collection of short stories written by Reed. The other three trade paperbacks shipping in February will be Ghost Sonata, Jack the Ripper and Saint Germaine: Tales of an Immortal.

"We're excited to explore the possiblities with many of these titles, not just in the direct comics market but other areas as well," Reed said. "Many of these titles have long been out of print so I think that there are a lot of fans who will get their chance to pick up some of these stories in a nice collected version."

Nieves said that since the initial announcement of Transfuzion, quite a few things have changed.

"The main thing," Nieves said, "was the response we got from a lot of creators who wanted to come on board. And a lot of them want to do new material."

One of the roles that Nieves will plays in the company is to handle submissions and creators for the series of anthology titles that Transfuzion will be launching.

"We're planning to do a number of thematic anthology titles and much of it will be all new material," Nieves said. "We won't announce anything specific until it is ready to go."
