Marvel First Looks, animation news -- and much more!!!

Universal Pictures has provided The Continuum with 25 new images from Hellboy II: The Golden Army.

The images show the returning Ron Perlman as Hellboy, Doug Jones as Abe Sapien, Selma Blair as Liz Sherman and Jeffery Tambor as Tom Manning and also provide the first look at Johann (voiced by Thomas Kretschmann), Prince Nuada (Luke Goss), his kind sister Princess Nuala (Anna Walton) and the unstoppable monster Wink.

Hellboy creator Mike Mignola has recounted the story about how he and writer/director Guillermo del Toro both originally envisioned Perlman as Hellboy. He also noted that Perlman was "mutantly created" to play the character.

"Guillermo originally switched the stone hand to the left hand because you're dealing with, usually, a right-handed actor," Mignola said. "And if you put that (stone) hand -- which he can't use -- on his right hand, then he's going to look awkward doing other stuff left-handed.

"And then we discovered that Ron is left-handed, so that's great. But now, the right stone hand is going to look awkward if he punches because he's punching with his bad hand. Except that Ron is left-handed but his father taught him to do all sports right-handed."

Marvel Comics on Thursday announced that X-Factor #26, featuring chapter seven of the Messiah CompleX story, has sold out at Diamond.

This marks the seventh straight sell-out for the event, which has featured the appearance of a new mutant, the return of Cable and the formation of an all-new, all-different team.

Marvel is going back to press with X-Factor #26 Second Printing Variant, featuring the interior art of Scot Eaton on a new cover.

"Sales on New X-Men and X-Factor have more than doubled since this started," said David Gabriel, Marvel's senior vice president of sales and circulation. "With new titles launching out of this event such as X-Force, Cable, X-Men: Legacy and Young X-Men, as well as saying good bye to some old favorites, we'll have an entirely new invigorated X line up for 2008!"

The second printing of X-Factor #26 will be in stores on Jan. 30.
