MARVEL COMICS' X-MEN: LEGACY

Marvel Comics on Monday released images from X-Men: Legacy, formerly X-Men, whch gets its new title with #208.

Here's how Marvel describes the book:

"X-Men: Legacy continues the aftermath of Messiah CompleX, centering on the lives of Professor X, Magneto, Rogue and Gambit. With the X-Men no more, mutantkind must look to the past as they move forward into a future like you've never seen before! Similar to X-Men: Deadly Genesis, this ongoing series promises to reveal shocking secrets about your favorite mutants while also launching a bold new era for the X-Men."

X-Men: Legacy #208 will be in stores on Feb. 27. It is written by Mike Carey, with art by Scot Eaton and a cover by David Finch.

SMALLVILLE ROUNDUP

The CW has confirmed for The Continuum that the next new Smallville episode will air on Thursday, Jan. 31.

The episode will be "Persona" and guest-stars James Marsters as Brainiac and Mark Allen McClure as Dax-Ur.

An official description of the episode is expected later this week.

In other Smallville news:

* Gina Holden, who plays Dale Arden in Sci Fi Channel's Flash Gordon, will be guest-starring in an upcoming episode. Her role hasn't been confirmed yet, but, according to sources, she will play the daughter of Dr. Virgil Swann.

Holden is returning to the network, having played Haley Collins in The CW's Supernatural.

* The CW on Monday announced its midseason schedule, with Smallville remaining in its Thursday at 8 p.m. time period.

TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES' SUMMER GLAU

* Marvel Comics has released a spread drawn by John Romita Jr. to update readers on the new status quo for Spider-Man following the events in the "One More Day" story.

The spread addresses such issues as the return of Harry Osborn and Spider-Man's web shooters.

* Top Cow Productions on Monday announced that Filip Sablik has been promoted to publisher.

* According to Variety, FX has acquired the exclusive network-window rights to five theatrical movies from 20th Century Fox, including Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer and The Simpsons Movie.

In other Iron Man news, LG Mobile Phones on Monday at International CES announced a partnership with Paramount Pictures and Marvel Studios to launch a multi-faceted campaign to promote the role of technology in Iron Man.

Prior to the film's May 2 release, LG will unveil advertising, as well as retail, online and consumer electronics industry initiatives to showcase the company's high-tech expertise and role in developing sophisticated and aesthetically pleasing multimedia devices.

* To the right is a look at Vengeance of Vampirella TP from Harris Comics. The 112-page book will be in stores in March and will cost $15.96.

* Morgan Freeman, who is starring in the upcoming Wanted and The Dark Knight, will be a guest on CBS' The Late Show with David Letterman on Wednesday.

* Glory Grant will appear in Kids' WB!'s The Spectacular Spider-Man animated series, targeted to premiere in March.

* 300 will premiere on Cinemax on Saturday, March 1 at 10 p.m.

* The Friday, Jan. 25 episode of Sci Fi Channel's Flash Gordon is titled "Cold Day in Hell." According to her web site, Flash Gordon star Gina Holden will be making a guest appearance on The CW's Smallville.

* According to Variety, Marlon Wayans has signed on to play Ripcord in Paramount Pictures' G.I. Joe movie. Production is expected to begin next month for an Aug. 7, 2009 release.

Sablik's primary responsibility will be to oversee aspects of Top Cow's comic book and graphic novel publishing including editorial, sales, and marketing. Sablik joined Top Cow in September 2006 as vice president of marketing and sales after six years at Diamond Comic Distributors. Sablik will continue to report directly to Matt Hawkins, president of Top Cow. As part of the transition, Sablik will relocate from his Baltimore office to the Top Cow home office in Los Angeles.

* Marvel Comics has released a look at both covers -- with trade dress -- for X-Factor #27, which goes on sale on Wednesday.
