COMNG FRIDAY

First Looks -- and much more!

X-MEN: LEGACY

Marvel Comics on Thursday revealed images and details from X-Men: Legacy #208, the first post Messiah CompleX issue of the renamed title.

The issue, due in stores on Feb. 27, is written by Mike Carey, with art by Scot Eaton and John Romita Jr. and a cover by David Finch.

Here's Marvel's description of the issue:

"A single shot to head of Charles Xavier brought an end to the X-Men and killed his dream. But in the wake of Messiah CompleX's shocking conclusion, what is the fate of Professor X? In X-Men: Legacy #208, a bold new era for mutantkind begins!

"As Xavier's life hangs in the balance, assistance comes from the last place he'd expect! While Xavier's saviors seek to restore him, providing fans with a powerful look inside the mind of the X-Men's founder, a question must be asked: will Xavier's restoration save mutantkind...or doom mankind?

"Just what will happen to Xavier? And how will Magneto, Gambit and Rogue figure into the equation?"

THE SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN ROUNDUP

Clancy Brown, known to comics fans as the voice of Lex Luthor, is providing the voice of George Stacy in Kids' WB!'s upcoming The Spectacular Spider-Man.

In the series, George Stacy is Gwen's father and a police captain. His relationship with Spider-Man will probably echo that of the Silver Age comics.

Brown, 49, has voiced Lex Luthor in more than 40 episodes of Superman: The Animated Series, Justice League/Justice League Unlimited and, most recently, The Batman.

He also provided the voice of Mr. Freeze in The Batman.

In other Spider-Man news:

* Sandman will be featured in the first half of the season.

* Dave Bullock, a director of Justice League: The New Frontier, also worked on The Spectacular Spider-Man.

* Sha Shan will be appearing in the show.

* Look for more Spider-Man news soon here in The Continuum.

THE MIDDLEMAN ON ABC FAMILY

ABC Family has given the go-ahead for a television series based on The Middleman, the Viper Comics title created by Javier Grillo-Marxuach and Les McClaine.

This follows a pilot order in September.

"We are extremely excited and can't wait," Viper Comics' Jessie Garza told The Continuum.

Grillo-Marxuach is writing and producing for the series, which will star Natalie Morales as Wendy Watson and Matt Keeslar in the title role.

The pilot, shot in Vancouver, was directed by Jeremiah Chechik and guest-stars 24's Mary Lynn Rajskub

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the order is for a cast pick-up, with production schedules and launch dates pending resolution of the writers' strike.
